Mach4 General Discussion / Re: ESS & C25 Wiring help for home switches

Ah now I'm finding that the problem seems to be one of the switches itself, or its connecting wires.

Mach4 General Discussion / ESS & C25 Wiring help for home switches
« on: September 09, 2016, 11:02:44 PM »
I'm hoping someone can walk me through the wiring for my mechanical home switches for my 3 axis router.

My router came with the three switches wired Normally Closed and connected to inputs 10, 11, 12 on the C25 and a common Ground on the C25.  I could not get a reliable connection in Mach4 for all three switches with this wiring scheme.

Reading the manual for the C25 seemed to suggest that each switch should be wired from a 5V terminal on the C25 to its input terminal (10, 11, 12.)  I tried this with a common 5V connection to all three switches but I'm still not seeing the correct behaviour in Mach4.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It was a careful checking of the output of pin 3, as well as all of the ESS and Mach4 settings relating to X Dir signal.

It was so long ago now that I can't remember whether it was a wiring problem or software settings problem, but I got it working again by checking the wiring first, then software.

That sounds like the X Step connection is working but the X Direction connection is not.

That has happened to me before.

Thanks again for the help, I've got it working now.

I had assumed that the PCID was only dependant on the hardware and since I haven't changed the hardware my old licence file should work.

But I now understand that the PCID is also dependant on which version of Mach4 I'm running and upgrading from an older version required re-submitting a new PCID.

Thanks very much for your help, I've downloaded the new license and will give it a try!

Yes I'm using the same license from the email I received from artsoft

How do I generate a new one?

I'm trying to update Mach4 to the current version but I can't get the licence file to stick.

I'm strictly following the instructions in my licence email, but no amount of restarting Mach, restarting Windows, or uninstalling and re-installing Mach is working.

I'm running Mach as Administrator as per the instructions but no luck.

Has the licensing file changed in the past year?

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Did you see the new ESS driver release which addresses MPG jogging problems?

"We just released a new Mach4 ESS plugin, that fixed MPG (Quadrature encoder input) to be used to Jog with."
