All of sudden I can't see my program run screen (main screen) alto the program is running
I am able to  view all my settings and configuration page etc....

If I change to a different XML that I have in Mach 3 Loader I see the

General Mach Discussion / set up in mm moving in inches
« on: November 01, 2012, 12:40:26 PM »
I checked my movement today
in MDI G91G1X10F100
it moves 10 inches the dro says 234.0013
I do X12 it move exactly 2 more inches 12 inches
dro says 304.008

the machine is set-up in mm's
but, it is moving in inches

want to thank everyone for puttiing up
with all these questions and then helping out...

wonder why I even spent 10K on a machine
and I don't know what I am doing...

General Mach Discussion / a simple MDI move not working??
« on: October 31, 2012, 06:06:19 PM »
it was suggested that I check to see if I am actually moving as far as the DRO's say
when I put in G0X10 the axis moves from machine home to nearly the middle of the table
put the same in y axis it moves over to half way of the table...
it doesn't matter what length I put in it moves the exact same spot every time same
for both X and Y....I am set-up in mm's

what would cause this????

General Mach Discussion / Someone take a look at this
« on: October 30, 2012, 04:42:33 PM »
Please take a look at this attachment
and tell me why this project is outside
my work area

this is the "scorpion" a practice work I got
it from here

the machine homes properly and I am able to
zero all the axis to the work material

the machine goes to point zero just like it suppose to
and then heads off away from the work piece and would
crash into the y stop if didn't hit e stop....

General Mach Discussion / grounding your cnc
« on: October 20, 2012, 08:38:24 PM »
I found out this weekend that the receptacle I was using for the cnc
was not grounded....trying to account for erratic behavior I first began
to check for proper grounds when I found this...I have now run a new
line to for the cnc a dedicated breaker which is grounded...

In addition to this normal circuit ground I have read where a cnc's metal frame (chassis) is also
grounded to a separate earth ground.. a hole is drilled through the floor a ground rod is driven
into the ground and the machine is grounded to this via # 8 copper ground wire....

will this help with noise and interference issue....

General Mach Discussion / DRO Jog screen buttons backward help
« on: October 18, 2012, 07:36:03 PM »
I generally do not use my jog screen I just use the keyboard to jog
but, I used it today trying to figure about my problem with my axis direction

and I noticed that my x and y jog buttons are opposite...
the x button controls moves my tool up and down
and the y button moves my machine from side to side

does anybody know what I need to do

General Mach Discussion / erratic uncontrolled cycle starts
« on: October 18, 2012, 09:54:44 AM »
I am a couple of weeks into the CNC and things are coming pretty good with everyone's help
I do have a problem trying to figure why the cnc starts off crazy when I hit cycle start
to begin a run

After I zero the axis to the surface of the material and then send it home
I hit cycle start....Sometimes the z axis will go straight down and crash if I don't stop it
sometimes Z will raise a bit and head off in the opposite direction
but, after I go through and do everything again it will do just fine....

I am learning to be very very cautious and carefully but it is taking a great deal of time
having to run a trial run without the tool before I can start with the tool
something is set wrong somewhere

for example
last night I ran a Gcode from VCarve Pro that I have run a couple times aleardy
I load the program hit cycle start the Z axis it heads to the project (looks good) makes its descent
but, it doesn't stop... before I can hit the stop it bores through the material and into my sacrificial bed....

I reload the program reset all the axis to the material again
start completely all over
and it runs perfect.....

what do I need to check

thanks ahead for all the help
