Win 7 and I did roll back the driver.  M3 is the only app that will not run.

General Mach Discussion / MACH 3 hung

I updated the driver for the USB Smooth Stepper and now when I attempt to launch M3 it hangs at the screen splash.  I backed out the driver but I'm still stuck at the start.  Any ideas short of re-installing M3 all over again?

TIA,
Ken

It may be a pause command to you but from my thinking it's a stop command.  Any way it works like you stated and I'm on my way to drilling 48 tiny holes.  Just hit the button and push down on the plunger, on the next hole.  Step and repeat.

Thanks,
Ken

M0 - program stop.  I guess that will work.  I'll have to check it in the morning.  I didn't think would work as I was looking for something lick a pause command.

Thanks.

I'm using a Sherline sensitive drilling tool to drill some small holes (lots of 0.022" dia holes). I can extract the drill hole location into a separate G-code file.  I need to pause the controller between each hole while I manually plunge the drill.  I did a search but was unable to find anything on point.  I hope that doesn't mean there is no way to pause a running program?

TIA,
Ken

(never read it though so maybe not ;D )

Too funny, ya got to love this guy!  ;D
He's way ahead of me and I've read a whole lot of the manual - don't remember most of it as at first it was way over my head.  It takes time to sink in.

The IJ setting was my problem.

Thanks,

Pardon me for asking, but what is IJ mode?

I've run into a major hole in my design.  I mean a big hole where there shouldn't be any.

Loading the G-code on my laptop system (Smooth Stepper USB, G540 controller) I can see a giant spiral at 0,0 where there shouldn't be any.

Loading the same file on my desktop system show everything correctly.  I know from experience that if I run the code on my laptop it will crash the bit into the work piece with a wide gash.

The G-code file was created using MeshCam 5 (build 37)

Any ideas as to what would cause this?

TIA,
Ken

Ah yes, the missing license file.  That's done but onto the next problem.

Thanks for your help.
