General Mach Discussion / Re: New PlugIn just about done..
« on: January 03, 2008, 09:59:49 PM »
Hey, good news.  Reading all data again, I think I found the configuration button.  Sorry for the previous email.  I'll report back my success.

edit:  IT WORKS GREAT!  Thanks to all of you guys and particularly Greg who published a video showing his cool new macros.   I think it was the laser edge finder video that got me wanting this Shuttle PRO2.

Greg, et-al,
Ok, I accomplished my plan.
1. ignored the boxed software
2. installed the Shuttle Pro .dll file
3. I ran mach3 and configured the plugins.  (Interesting, the shuttle pro was already checked.)
4. I closed mach3 - and opened mach3
5. twisted the shuttle pro knobs.

Here's the result.
Very simply,
a. I can only move the x axis.  (good news both dials work as advertised)
b. I can't find any triggers to modify or configure the shuttle pro.
c. Therefore, I don't know what the buttons are supposed to do, or change their settings.
d. All buttons are unresponsive

Any thoughts?  What didn't I do correctly?
Dave

EDIT:  To configure the shuttle pro 2, go to Config Plugins> Press the yellow Config button to the right of the ShuttlePro setting.
All buttons can be configured.

Greg,
Do you have a separate thread about using your autozero routine with the shuttle pro?   If so, post a link please.   I saw your video of you using it, and I had to have one.  I got it for Christmas.  Looking forward to getting my autozero working on the Shuttle pro too.

Actually, I had some trouble installing my shuttle pro, so it is sitting unused.   I'll try again tonight maybe.

To all:
Here's what I plan to do to install it correctly.
1.  Ignore all manufacturer's installation instructions.  (ie, don't install the CD's software)
2.  Download the Mach3 .dll installer
3.  Install the .dll and verify it's in the /mach3/plugins folder
4.  Run Mach3 and configure the plugin
5.  Start spinning the dials to move the gantry.

How am I doing?   Did I miss any steps.

EDIT:
Add step 6.  Press the yellow "config" button found under the Mach3 pull down  "Config >Config plugin >ShuttlePro"

General Mach Discussion / Constant Velocity question
« on: January 01, 2008, 09:44:15 AM »
I'm looking for the philosophical description of what Constant Velocity setting does for your cutting?

Or better yet a practical description would be great too.

Does CV "off" interfere with the accelerations in Motor tuning?

Does CV "on" induce errors in accuracy?

thanks in advance
Dave

Giorgio,
That's an interesting site.  Looking at the photo examples is just scratching the surface, but it did give me some insight into the problems Art is facing.   I need to get back and try another scan soon.

What's your Mach3 rev level?  You must have the latest rev.  I had a similar error during the install of the plugin.  Fixed it by downloading and installing the latest rev.

That's awesome.  I'm really looking forward to it.

Art,
What is the tolerance bar, is the the slider in between the two screen monitors?

Regarding the camera height, how close is good enough?    If I measure 8 inches and Mach3 reports 6.5, is that close enough to get some accuracy?

As implied above, I have an 8 inch (200mm) camera height.   I will try a larger block, but I think the short focal distance will make it impractical for the block to grow larger then 65 mm.

Have you posted any version revisions yet?
Thanks,
Dave

Here's a picture of a knob.  The txt file is also included.

I thought I'd bump this thread.   In reply #23 of this thread I posted a txt file of a knob.  I was hoping somebody would open that file and see if they could help me trouble shoot the results.

I'm looking forward to getting my first real scan complete.

Now I need to find a good deal on a Web Cam.

I have a pretty old web cam.  Circa 2000, I'm guessing.   I'm wondering if this old camera is part of my problem.  The frequent crashing and other issues.   Or it could be the Alpha state of the hardware too.   I'm looking forward to the next iteration of Art's software so I can find out.
