General Mach Discussion / UC 100 problems
« on: February 20, 2017, 03:47:29 PM »
I have installed the UC 100 and in installed it several times each time cleanout the plug file in Mach 3, Each time it installs and things seem fine. The green and blue light is on steady, not flashing. I start to use it and a box appears telling me to check connections. The directions that come with this also says check USB port driver. How do I find the right driver? The connections are fine. Now this isn't the E-bay one but from Amazon and I think made in Europe .

I am running a Dell 660 with windows 7. The computer is a designated computer and not on line. The computer is in good shape. I have yet to get this to run any thing on my machine,

General Mach Discussion / parallel port
« on: March 31, 2016, 03:18:29 PM »
I need to replace my designated computer.  The new ones do not have a parallel port as you know.  I know I read some where about a external parallel port that worked well with CNC. ~ ~That's the end of my knowledge about it. Advice Please ~ ~ Also Is there a good minimum CPU size I should stay above,

General Mach Discussion / Mill to lathe configuration
« on: February 10, 2016, 06:42:21 PM »

I have a Shopmaster Eldorado that is a Lathe, Mill combo.  I use it mostly for hobby work and also to help repair car wash problems

I want to run the lathe and I know I read some where  how to configure the  settings to run X/Y instead of X,Y and Z on the mill side but I haven't found it.  I have never tried any serious lathe work but want to play.

I want to configure the lathe to run CNC and learn a bit about threading.  Any help would be good

General Mach Discussion / External E Stop requested
« on: January 04, 2013, 01:55:42 AM »
I downloaded a new Mach3. Latest lock down version. I get a flashing reset button and a notation saying EXTERNAL E-STOP REQUESTED.  I don't have the parallel port connected. I have connected it and turned on the charge pump with the same action except the green light on the gecko shuts off and the red comes on. Any advice would be a good thing

General Mach Discussion / z steper trouble
« on: December 14, 2012, 08:25:27 PM »
Z code looses the computer after a code post and just keeps going. Nothing on the computer stops it. Only E-Stop does and if you don't clear the DRO it will start back up when you reset the E-Stop.

Code G01 Z1.0000 and the DRO moves to 0.0001 and that's where it stays. The mill will lower till it bottoms out or you hit E-Stop.
I was resetting the steps when this started and I have checked the steps and that is right, I checked the stepper cable and it has continuity at all pins, , Whats next please.

General Mach Discussion / Y code differance
« on: December 06, 2012, 01:27:50 AM »
I have a Shopmaster Eldorado. I was cutting a rectangle on the mill and ran into a problem so I got out the dial indicator and coded G0I Y 1.000 and it moved 1.0000 but when I coded G01 Y0.0000 It moved 0.9830. This makes one side shorter than the other of course.
The machine has ball screw leads on all axes  and there does not seem to be very much back lash.

any idea how to correct this? ? ?
