General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 and 4th Axis
« on: April 03, 2012, 10:19:48 PM »
How do I get mach3 to rotate A axis in degrees. When I set my rotary table at 0 and MDI in A180 for a test, the table rotates 6 full revotutions and then stops at about 80° more. It looks like it is moving in a linier 180". Don't know. What do I have to configure to make it rotate in degrees when programming A axis?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Pin out for probe function

Da!!!!! Why didn't I think of this. (Mind F***) .  Thanks for your help. I think it will be easyest to add a second port and bring a lead wire form the computer to the CNC with a 25 pin connector. The computer sits close to the machine so distance is not an issue. I was looking to put a small 1/8 quick disconnect on the controller panel, but this will be less work.
Thanks again guys, :D :D :D

General Mach Discussion / Pin out for probe function
« on: March 29, 2012, 01:05:56 AM »
I would like to use the probe function with the 2010 screenset, but on the input screen where it is enabled it has a note saying you can only use pins 10-13 and 15. Unfortunately the control I am using has all 5 pins enabled. There are other pins available in the control that are not used because it is not a 5 axis controller. My question is, will Mach3 recognize signal if I set it for pin 16 or 17 which are the pulse pins for the 5th axis? (not used in my controller) Gerry, if you read this, your 2010 screenset is awesome. I only hope I get to use the auto probe. Is there another work around for this.? (Anybody????)

Thanks in advance, ???

General Mach Discussion / Re: Steppers are too slow
« on: March 28, 2012, 11:50:26 AM »
Hi,

I have just set up a small china cnc router bought on Ebay from MIB instruments. I was able to get everything running, but I am having two problems. The first is that when I set the configuration for inches I only get mm readings on the DRO. I set the G80 F6.0 G20 in the initialization line, but that did not help. I re-set the system to mm and that did changed the DRO to increment in what seemed to be inches, but I don't know if this is correct. The second problem (challenge) is that when I MDI a movement of 1 or 2 inches, the axis I program says 1 or 2 on the DRO, the table slides move much more (at least twice). What am a setting wrong? The spec sheet from the manufacture (MIB) lists the parameters as: SPI = 460, Vel = 250, Accel = 20. This makes the table creep along. I played with the Vel and Accel as suggested in one of the video tutorials and that made the movement faster but still not accurate. The other thing is when I am in motor tuning the motors run nice and smooth and the tables have a nice rapid movement. When I exit out and use the Jog mode, the motors are very noisy and the tables look like they are jerking. The motors are ICAD 57 2 phase 3A 1.8 Degree step motors. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do?
Thanks
