General Mach Discussion / Threading on lathe issues
« on: March 01, 2015, 02:05:51 PM »
Hi guys, Need help!

Been searching on the forum for  a couple of weeks on threading on the lathe to solve my issue but I have had no success. My issue is that the timing on threads are off on each pass. Question is how do I correct this issue. My thinking is that Mach 3 is not picking up the timing correctly.

Hardware:
C35 board,
C3 board for indexing. board set on active high with Mach3 also set on active high for the pin.
100 mm disc with one 3mm slot
VFD (Teco N3) controlled by a C6 board.

Mach 3 version: R3.043.066

RPM reading on Mach 3 is correct. (meaning that rpm might be off by 1-2 rpm at most)
Debounce set at 0

X and Z axis movement and backlash are perfect.

Any advice will be helpful.
Thank you,
Raul M

General Mach Discussion / Incorrect spindle RPM
« on: November 29, 2014, 01:12:19 PM »
Hi guys,
I have been searching for a couple of days thru the forum to try to figure out my issue but I have been unsuccessful.
The issue that I am having is that I can not get the appropriate RPM to match Mach3.
Hardware: G0704 mill, C35 BOB, C6 Speed control.
Motor timing: motor pulley 32 tooth, spindle pulley 40 tooth
Mach3 pulley setting: min 100, max 4350 ratio 0.8
Motor tuning: 1000 steps, Max velocity, Step pulse 3
Spindle setup: I have checked Step/Dir motor

I can set the max rpm correctly to 4350. If I set Mach3 to 3000 rpm my tach reads 2800. At 2000 rpm the tach reads 1600. At 1000 rpm the tach reads 650.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Raul

SmoothStepper USB / USB SmoothStepper went bad
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:39:30 PM »
Hi guys, need a little help!

This morning I was working on my mill and all of the sudden my machine went haywire. I quit mach3 but machine continued going crazy. I had to disconnect the usb cable that went to the smooth stepper for it stop. I went trough a process of restarting the computer and mach3 but i could not get mach3 to work with the smooth stepper. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and plugin for the smooth stepper but the only portion that I can see that is working is on the inputs. I can not get the smooth stepper to activate the outputs on the BOB(C35). I disconnected the smooth stepper from the BOB and connected with parallel port and everything works fine.

I checked the voltage on pin 17 of the smooth stepper but I can't read anything higher than 4 mv. LED lights on the smooth stepper are correct.

Question: Is there a way that this board  could have gone bad?
Is there a way that I can use port 2 to connect to the C35 BOB?

Thank you,
Raul Martinez

I have a Pokeys 56U connected to an M2 motherboard, attached is the M31 matrix keyboard from cnc4pc. I have not been able to get it to work. I am running the latest Mach3 software and the latest pokeys plugin.
I pokeys plugin I enabled the matrix keyboard settings and assigned the pins to the corresponding rows and columns. Then in the pokeys mapping I assign the matrix keyboard to press a button.
I have not been able to get this to work. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Can someone please give me a hand.

PoKeys / 2 Pokeys 56U boards
« on: July 10, 2012, 06:31:52 AM »
Hi all,
I need a little help! I have 2 Pokeys 56U boards connected to Mach3. If you have one Pokeys 56U board connected to Mach3 and the input port is port 10. What would be the input port for the second Pokeys 56U Board?

Thanks,
Raul

PoKeys / Pokeys and mach 3 not working
« on: June 26, 2012, 05:53:13 PM »
Hi,
I recently installed a smooth stepper board for mach3. I had removed the pokeys 56u board from my setup until the new plugins arrived. Now I installed the new plugin and software pokeys. As i try to configure pokeys board thru mach 3 I am unable to get it to work. When I access the configuration screen thru mach 3 I am able to make changes but I nothing will happen with mach 3. I need some assistance. Can this be an issue with using both the smooth stepper and pokeys?

Thank you,
Raul

Hi all
I need some help!
I have a pokeys 56U board and I have a potentiometer connected to it. I want to able to control my spindle speed with it. How would I go about doing this. Would I need to use brains? If so what formula would I need?

I also want to be able to change the feed rate with a different potentiometer.

PoKeys / Pokeys 56U behaving erratically
« on: March 24, 2012, 08:03:16 PM »
Hi all,
I need a little help. I have a pokeys 56U with firmware version 3.0.25. It was working perfect until last night as I was changing some input settings. Now it is activating and cycling thru inputs automatically. I have reset and cleared all the settings on the unit. I have reinstalled the mach 3 plug-in, I have even moved the pokeys board to a separate computer and I am having no luck. I have it connected to a third computer with nothing attached to the board and I still can not get it to work properly.

Is there a way to do a hard reset on the pokeys board?
Those any one think that the board might be damaged?

Thanks

Raul
