the more I do the less I know. I finished setting up the screenset set up. run the double plate setup. that ran great told me the fixed plate was set. so i loaded a g code, moved off home and ran the work piece height which worked great. i hit cycle start and my machine went to the change tool position and said hit cycle start after tool change. since the tool i needed was already in my router i hit cycle start. i figured it would go to the fixed plate touch off and then get to cutting. well the hour glass came up and whizzed around for about 10 min and nothing happened. of course it says at the top Mach 3 not responding. took forever to shut down Mach3. i opened up Mach3 and rechecked all the numbers i used to do the screenset setup, all seems OK with them. so i tried again same result after tool change prompt to hit cycle start nothing. I'm sure I am doing something wrong but I don't know what.
Back info.
computer used for my machine has Windows XP, Mach 3, Vcarve Pro, Norton, and a wireless connection to my house internet.  that's it i bought a new computer (3 months ago) for my machine no extra crap on it. in fact i don't use Vcarve on it to do design work, i have a different computer for that, i just have Vcarve on it to check designs if a problem arises.
I'm sure once it get it to work right i will be happy as a Pig in S--t. i must say i do like the actual window for the screenset very easy to get to all the features available on it. nice job GER.

thanks. as far as i can recall the last thing i cut was an L shaped homing bracket. i checked the pattern in Vcarve Pro where i made it and it was in Inches. for all i know i did something during the set up. i have to finish setting it up tomorrow. still have safe z and my stationary plate setup.

I installed the screenset i bought from you and went through the set up. how do i get it back to Inches? my DRO's are reading in MM's. everything was set to Inches before i installed the screenset. even the bottom of the screen references mm's. im sure it is something simple but i can't find it in the configs of the screenset.

thanks i just purchased your screenset. i watched the two videos on your web page. i downloaded the manual and read it. it didn't say anything about how to wire up the two pads to be used. back to my original question do both touch pads get wired to the same pin?

I am very new to this so if my question sound lame bare with me. i have a licenced version of Mach 3. i made a plate that is .0641 thick, i want to use it to zero the top of my work piece. I have connected to an empty pin and tested the connection it makes (which works) . i have seen videos of machines touching off on a work piece then raise up a little and then come back down super slow and touch off again thus finding the work piece top, then the machine goes over to a permanent plate touches off and then it is ready to go. my question is how do I get my machine to automatically touch off on these plates and does the permanent plate connect to the same pin as the moveable one? i am assuming that this procedure is in the Mach 3 software. But I am unable to find out how. I have heard that you can write your own C++ program code to do this, but since I am clueless as to how to do that. is there some add on i can get, purchase, or a simple procedure to do this? Am I making sense?  thanks in advance guys

thanks. so far i have not figured out how to save more than one tool path at a time. does saving my tool path as an ATC automatically save all the tool paths i have generated?

what do you mean tool changes? what during the middle of a cut? whats the difference between the ATC posts and the ARCS?
