FAQs / possible software problem???
« on: November 08, 2013, 10:42:02 AM »
recently my Z axis has been acting up. when I use the Z home, as my axis touches the home switch and stops and i have to reset in order to move it. it used to touch the switch and then back off enough to release the switch (X & Y axis touch and move off slightly). i have checked my switches, wires and plugs, since i use plugs to connect everything. all seem to be OK. i think it may be my software but I am not sure how to check  for proper fuction. my machine works fine cutting and engraving. my touch off pad and fuctions work as designed. i am at a point that i dont know what to do next.

I already did the double arrow set up on Tuesday and i have cut some pieces,it worked well.  my problem now is i am not using a piece of wood to cut, i want to plane my table flat. so when i do my touch off its on my table surface and not a piece of material. do i have to do the double touch setup every time i change my g code or everytime i start my mach3 program?

Gerry
not sure what i am doing wrong but its something. I am trying to surface plane my table

1. i ref all home Machine and work all 0.00. no offsets.   Z home is top of travel.
2. i connect my probe to router and run the single zero. Z comes down and touches off (table surface) (my plate is .0641 thick) then raises to 1.125 ( my safe Z setting)
3. then X & Y move to tool change position (same X,Y,Z as whats in the setup manual)so far so good.
4. hit cycle start and X & Y go to fixed plate position (out side of work area and set on 3/4 plywood block, same size plate there too. comes down touches off
5. when it moves back to my starting point and runs the g code the bit is 3/4 of an inch from the surface. this happens with or without the the material ref checked.

is my fixed plate supposed to be lower than my table?
Here is my g code

gerry i just wanted to say thanks. i updated to a different ver Mach3 and your screen set works great. i have started to design and cut some new pieces for my DIY machine to make the cut area bigger. only thing i have to do is remember to change my static settings for my permanent touch off plate as i change the table area.  For anyone who reads this chain about Gerry's screenset, I say it is well worth the cost. make life so much easier.
off topic question: does anyone know of a real good G code to DXF program? free would be great, under $50 would be OK.
