SmoothStepper USB / Re: MPG on lpt2 of ss

I assumed that the mpg would be powered from the +5 on lpt2.

SmoothStepper USB / MPG on lpt2 of ss
« on: February 25, 2009, 10:07:07 AM »
OK. I've gotten the enable/disable jog to work and the estop to work on the mpg on lpt2 of ss. I still can't actually get it to jog. Any suggestions.

Yes, I used the template xml from the mpg manufacturer. I asked them if these are the settings to use with SS and they guessed it was right.

SmoothStepper USB / mpg on ss's lpt2

I can't get mach3 (latest version) to see an mpg

on ss's LPT2 port. I don't see ss's LPT2 port listed in my device manager. Is this the problem? I've used the given xml for using this mpg on the lpt2 port but I think going from ss is a problem. SS's LPT2 port is powered by SS's power, right?

By the way, everything works fine, jogging, encoder, speed, etc. without the mpg.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Bleeding edge

I looked at that application but I saw that only pins above 10 are shown on port 1. I am using port 1 but lower pins. Is there a help file?

General Mach Discussion / Bleeding edge

I appear to be on the bleeding edge of mach control. I am using the latest version with smoothstepper with a pendant on lpt2, SoundLogic breakout and homann designs digispeed and ModIO. Everything was working until I threw in smoothstepper. I now get a change in the DRO readout in MACH when I jog but no pulses to the gecko 320's.  I know its a smoothstepper problem but what? I am using SoundLogics pins, all of the lights on smoothstepper act as they should. Mach is communicating with smoothstepper.

I am about to spend a boat load of money on these servo drives and I want to make sure that I do everything I can to verify that they will work with Mach. Please take a look and let me know what you think.
