Hodges here is the dxf file. It is saved as an Acad 2000 dxf. I had to redo it three different times to get it so the cutter could cul everything. It is drawn for use with a .020" diam cutter. Maybe this will help enough to let you see if this is gonna work for you.

Hey Hodges,

Good morning. Well we have a problem with your design and using a .0625" bit. Traced in Rhino, and then scaled to 2" overall length most of the radii were either .004 or .005"! That would make the bit size needed a .010" ! I started rebuilding the lbolt to use a .020" bit, but it does change the look of it some. To get the same "look" using a bit of .0625" will require an overall length of about 12", assuming you wan to keep the scale the same.

I have a sick grandson here with me for a while this morning and I don't know whether he will let me work on the pc or not. I am for now........

Hodges what file extension do you want? Also what radius do you want for the pointed areas of the bolt? Do you know what size bit you will cut this with?

Mike
ps I'll post you a file shortly, or not so shortly depending on how sleepy I get! ;D

I downloaded vextraqctor today and also the easycam programs. I did manage to get the vextractor to do an outline of this attached *.jpg file, but when I did a simulationrun it didnt turn out anythng like what the picture file does. This is a simple lightning bolt, which is part of my logo. I have attached the tap file as well if any of you want to try it out.  What am I doing wrong?

Hodges how long is the lbolt from end to end?  I used Rhino v4 to trace your jpg and it took me a total of 10 minutes. It would need a little tweaking for use but I believe it could be done in 15 minutes. Something lots of people forget is that Rhino has a totally free download, though you are limited to 20-30 saves.

Now to the originator of this thread. There are tons of cheap cad and cam out there and I will post a few links if you want. I will have to go copy them, but it's no biggie! Let me know.

Now I like that one but the fact is I haven't even seen the software yet so I don't know how fast it's going to be, so......I'll wait a little longer! One of the things I want to do is have a contest in the actual naming but I haven't cleared it with them yet. If we do that I will allow those that have already given suggestions to pick from those they have made and lock the rest of the them so they won't have to be competing against themselves should someone else decide to use one of their suggestions.

Hey guys,

I am now a US reseller for Madcam, the cam plugin for Rhino. I have decided to try to set up a website and at least attempt to sell other kinds of cad and cam software as well. I hope to be a Rhino reseller soon but am trying to fnd other packages that I could offer.

I have been in contact with a person affiliated with a new cad/cam package about to hit the market. The problem is they don't have a name that is very catchey, if that is the correct term to use.

I ask them for permission to post a request for submission for names. After thinking about it a bit I though I might be better off asking how one would go about naming a product like a cad/cam package.

Suggestions for the naming process or even submissions of actual names would be appreciated. Hopefully this package is going to be marketed world wide so keep that in mind when coming up with ideas.

Here are a couple of features the package will on introduction.

2d and 3d 3 axis full featured cam as well as intense modeling and cad capabilities. I have not been give a complete list of features but I have been told it will be a modular based system and that 4 and 5 axis modules are in the works now but no time frame for release. I was told that two more modules were planned but was asked not to reveal those yet since they are just in the beginning stages of development.

I know this is not a lot of info but currently it is all I have. Ideas!

Hi Chip,

Thanks for the help.....but I already had the debounce at 2000. I had also posted this over on the yahoo group and had a suggestion of puttin a .1uf capicator across the switch contacts. So far this seems to have helped in the interruptions. It has yet to be seen it if helps with my homing accuracy.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the post. I don't use soft limits at all, so that wasn't an issue. I did install a .1uf capacitor across the switch today and that seems to have solved the problem. I will know more after I run the machine more.
