General Mach Discussion / controlling bits in Mach for PLC communication
« on: January 01, 2012, 06:11:55 PM »
How does one turn on and off bits in memory to communicate with PLC?  I can see how to do it from the PLC side by set B1600.10 and reset B1600.10 but on the Mach side I can't find anything in the documentation that describes how to set bits.  SetOUTbit()  and resetOUTbit() seem to be the ones to use but there is nothing written about how to use it as all text is in red I think indicating this section under Mod Bus programming is under construction.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / CB formatting numbers

How dose one format a double number for printing to a file to get
xx.0000 instead of xx.000000000000 in CBasic?

General Mach Discussion / strange errors
« on: September 21, 2011, 02:13:02 PM »
While working mach crashed and I had to reboot the computer.  After this mach loader did not recognize by .set file even though it is there in the Mach3 directory.  Also, when I open LazyCam on another computer, it recognizes and loads the current file in the editor but on the computer that crashed, LazyCam cannot find an active Mach3 nor a program to load.  This problem has been present ever since I started using it.

Also, I am trying to change a Y value in a G57 offset but I can only read it from CBasic and not able using setOEMDRO(831) to modify it

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / importing coordinate list
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:49:14 AM »
How can I get a x y coordinate file into lazy cam or mach?  I need to switch
from a comma delimited text file to a plot so I can do some tool compensation
of the tool path.  I am using a linear encoder to digitize a surface so I have
a list of coordinates generated by Mach.  Any ideas?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / digitize led on OemLed code
« on: September 09, 2011, 08:05:29 PM »
I have a limit switch connected to my breakout board A axis home on port 1 pin 15 which is set to be a probe input in ports and pins in Mach.  When I trip the switch, the digitize led turns green on the Diagnostics page as it should.  I need to be able to recognize when the switch is tripped.  I have tried several GetOEMLED codes including 855, 852 and no joy.  What would be the correct one? Do I need the 60000 series codes now?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / homing for probe
« on: August 17, 2011, 05:30:45 PM »
How do I set up a limit switch to use to zero a grinding wheel?  I have set up a
limit switch onto which I want to move a grinding wheel to identify the size of the wheel.
So I would move the grinding wheel into position with the midline of the wheel aligned
with the limit switch and then move the wheel slowly toward the switch until it opened
and back it off slightly just like the axes do when they zero.  Then I can use the position
information to know where the edge of the wheel is as it gets ground away over time.
I assume there is axis zeroing code somewhere that I can easily adapt?

Also, I have mm lead screws and cant figure out how to set up these properly.  Do I put
mm in native units and figure 5mm per rotation?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 shutting down
« on: November 05, 2007, 07:47:04 AM »
Help!  Mach3 is shutting down for no apparent reason. :'(  When I try to restart Mach3, it says there is a Mach3 DLL initialization error and I end up having to reboot.  This computer is relatively new and is running XP.  It seems to happen during periods when nothing is being done.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Keith Clark

Chip,

I am trying out your lathe screen set that looks like the mill screens.  There are only 2 axes showing on the tab mpg and not 4 as in mill.  Also there are only 3 axes showing on the screens.  I assume the process of adding the extra axes is just like that for mill or are there some peculiarities due to the fact that this is now being done in lathe mode?

Thanks,
Keith Clark

Chip, you are a scholar and a gentleman!  I can't thank you enough for helping me out of my Rutex, Pixie, Yaskawa servo quagmire! You give meaning to the word altruism.

Thanks so much!
