I have my motors running with bare minimum pins and ports but as soon as I try to add Estop and homes and limits nothing works.  I am copying the settings from the Warp9 info on how to set up for Mach4 by setting the inputs and outputs in my machine to those listed but no joy.  Anyone else using the ESS with C62 BOB and getting it to work?  DaztheGas video looks helpful but not quite the same as my screens on a newer version I guess.

Thanks
Keith

SmoothStepper USB / Mach4 ESS not responding
« on: November 25, 2016, 05:12:42 PM »
At first all seemed good with Mach4 motor setup but it would not see the motor for tuning.  Then I rebooted and the ESS IP address changed to 10.9.9.2 and will not allow 10.9.9.9 even with the utility and jumper.  Mach will not run now.  I plan to format the drive and start over without Norton or wireless internet then add Norton and wireless through USB once Mach is set up.  Does that make sense? Or would Norton or wireless not be the problem?

Thanks

Are Brains obsolete in Mach4?

Mach4 General Discussion / learning to probe in Mach4 with LUA
« on: November 20, 2016, 09:10:51 AM »
Is the module for probing open source so I can learn how to write my own code in Lua to probe a 2D surface?  and if so how do I see the programming?
Otherwise, is Brett's module for probing still available?

Thanks
Keith

SmoothStepper USB / db26 header with ribbon cable to connect ESS
« on: November 19, 2016, 09:43:33 AM »
I am trying to locate a low profile db26 female to male ribbon cable to connect my smooth stepper to breakout board.  I would like to make my own cables but not sure what headers to get and what crimper is used.  So I would appreciate either a source for already made cables or how to make my own.  Thanks!

SmoothStepper USB / High output rate utilization

What hardware capabilities do I need to consider when designing a CNC system to take advantage of the high output rates of an ESS in Mach4?  Thanks

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4gui.exe in demo mode - Mach4
« on: November 06, 2016, 07:18:51 AM »
It does not seem like Mach4gui.exe functions in Demo mode, is this correct?  After watching Brian's video introducing screen editing on YouTube, I tried to work with Mach4gui.exe.  The first thing I did was to change the wxMach label but it did not work.  Am I doing something wrong or do I just need to go ahead and get a license?

Thanks.

Mach4 General Discussion / digital indicator serial port input
« on: October 31, 2016, 05:24:20 PM »
Is it possible with Mach4 to read a serial port input from a micrometer with data out?  I realize that Lua programming would be required.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / homing code
« on: October 25, 2016, 06:47:29 PM »
How can I see the code used to home an axis?  Hoping to use a homing routine to check the diameter of a grinding wheel on a limit switch.  Thanks!

General Mach Discussion / axes not moving anymore
« on: October 22, 2016, 07:26:38 AM »
All axis movement has stopped on a machine that has been running Mach3 for years.  I put a new Win 7 computer into the system, and it worked fine for a day.  When I turned on the computer the next morning, there was no axis movement.  All indicator lights on the BOB and drives are on and the motors hum.  It uses the Campbell BOB and steppers with Gecko drives.

So far I have gone through the optimization process, uninstalled Norton, uninstalled Mach3 and reinstalled it 3 times with the proper use of DriverTest which says the system is great each time.  I have had experience with Mach3 having retrofitted 2 commercial machines and custom built 2 machines myself.  However, I have no electrical training and make my living doing surgery (who knows why I fool with machines...).  I have no idea what has gone wrong.  Possibly the motherboard, parallel ports, or parallel cable or maybe the BOB?

Thanks!
Keith
