motors are direct coupled the coupling is tight backlash is on. it appears as if the y axis is not responding to smaller movement steps??

i set up a dial on the y axis and set jogg to step at 0.001 then wwalked the table getting this results

   DRO            Dial
0.0000           0.0000
0.0133           0.0000
0.0143           0.0000
0.0153           0.00098
0.0163           0.0012
0.0174           0.0022
0.0184           0.003
0.0194           0.0041
0.0204           0.005

i ran the table in for 1 inch befor starting so it would be well out of any backlash .

also while running these i noticed tha for some strnge reason the DRO for the x axis started gumping up by about 0.100" but no movement on the machine just the DRO?????? then it stopedand i havent been able to reproduce that ..

hello, i'm kind of new to this machinning with cnc.

i recently converted my grizzle 8086 mill to cnc using hass plans, using a c11 driver and stepper motors.

i have cut a few simpple things with good results, they were basicly straight cuts in both x and y direction.  did 2 text cuts as well that had some curved lines.

i am using solid works cad with the HSMXpress for poast code.

i loaded the code cut the part and it came out the correct demintion in the general x axis direction. and as it got close to the max y direction things stoped moving???

i'm cutting a 5/8 hole.  in the x direction it measures 0.624 aproxamatly but yis 0.598 aprox. see the pic.
any idea on what is happening???

i'm pretty sure i do.

step pin2 dir pin3 port for both 1 for x axis
step pin 4 dir pin5 and port 1 again.

i checked the output at the port and found voltage up and down depending on which dir i entered on the keyboard.,, so i'm guessing i'm getting signals out to the BOB..

i did a restore to an earlyer time on the puter and then reinstalled mach and still no movement on the machine??????
any other ideas??

well i'm not sure if there are fuses for the bob or the drivers

i have lights on the bob for power but do not see any on the output ports to the drivers

i have green lights on the drivers

i see the mach3 dros for the axis moving when i press either the keyboard keys or the mpd buttons

i just started to check to see if i am for sure getting output to the cable..

because i had movement befor i started to try to reinstall mach i am kind of confident the BOB is good ... I hope????/

is there some way msm can grab output from mach and keep me off line till i reinstall msm???

i suppose i should add,
i'm running windows XP, using a C11 BOB from CNC4U on a sieg2x machine, KL-5056 D drivers to KL23-H2100-50-4B steppers currently oly had X & Y axis running.

helpppppp
i was running under the msm set cutting a circular pocket and had a lock on the z axis losen alowing the spindel to drop deeper into the work till it jamed and tiped the head befor i could hit the kill swich.

cleaned every thing up and checked out the drive and both x and y axis moved normal. happy camper at that. decided to check the mdi out to do a little job and wlow and behold NO MOVEMENT. went back and loded the original just bare moch3 files and no out put to the steppers????

thought i might have done something to mach files so uninstalled and tryed to reinstall barebone mach3 uninstalled every thing i could find with referance to mach3 first

but still no output??  i was getting out put under msm but not mach any ideas what is up and what do i need to do??????

General Mach Discussion / wizards don't seem to work
« on: February 27, 2012, 02:57:08 AM »
hi all,
i am a newby for sure... i am building a sieg 2x minimill into a cnc mill like hasses machine..
i decided to use mach3 and machstanderdmill software to run it.. i got mach installed and licences and also licesnced the mill wizard addons..
when i open up a wizard i see all the preloaded example inputs but i can not change any of them ...

don't know what i did wrong.. i know that the mach3 is working on my mill did a simple cut just to see it work. i have not set up the z axis yet as i was going to use the X/Y to cut the hardware for that axis.. but can't use any of the wizards

any help????
