General Mach Discussion / Re: PWM Mach Settings

Gald to hear you're all fixed up Dave. I agree about service (before and) after the sale being vitally important and Gecko is one company that does a great job of taking care of their customers.

And? I know the SS has a cable that goes from the 26 pin header to the 25pin D-dub connector typically found on the parallel port. I suspect others have the same capability.

Or you can use Mach on Win 7/64 with a SS, Galil, etc, etc and be miles ahead of the parallel port...

It all depends on the motherboard used and perhaps the exact peripherals (as drivers may cause problems as well.)

595
Do a search for SwapAxis()

Huh? Please try describing what your trying to accomplish as your description of what you want to do leaves one scratching their head.

SmoothStepper USB / Re: SS losing Data on Long NC Files

Really large files can give Mach fits. You can turn off the toolpath display to free up some processor resources. Also, don't try to run a file off a network drive. Brian has moved the graphics to its own thread in Mach 4 so everyone shoudl see a dramatic improvmetn with large file but it will be months before V4 is out.

Any 'opinion' is biased.  ;)

I simply report the truth about various ways to solve a problem to let folks make an informed decision.

It is amusing to see the smoothstepper suggested as a 'solution' to a problem with Mach3 . . .

I don't know why. I bought my first SmoothStepper almost two years ago for a custom machine I was building. Since I did not know what PC would be running it and needed to gauruntee that it would work I went with the SmoothStepper. In the two years hence I have never looked back to using the parallel port. While there are a few features of Mach's parallel port driver the SS does not yet support it does do very well what 95% of most folks need.

Sometimes problems like this turn stem from the current methodology that Mach uses for motion plug-ins. I think as time goes on we'll see both Mach and the external motion plug-ins improve as they both learn the best ways to interact. If you go into Ports&Pins you can toggle the Active Low setting for EStop which will allow you to reset Mach. That might allow further testing.

Do you have any macro pumps or other plug-ins running?

If you want to send your SS to me I would be glad to test it out. I bet Greg at Warp9 would test it for you as well.
