General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 Driven Wire Straightener Stopping Issue
« on: October 15, 2015, 08:14:23 PM »
Hello,

We are using Mach 3 with a looped G-code program to  operate a two axis sequence continuously for 8 hour stretches.

We have an issue where the Mach 3 stops every 45 - 60 minutes. The reset button has to be pressed and it starts up fine again.

It is happening more and more frequently.

Be glad of anybody's comments.

Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Glitch when moving the tool path screen.

Can anybody help. When I am maching and I move/rotate the toolpath on the toolpath screen I lose steps. Is this normal , a problem with my computer,  a Mach3 problem or something that I must just not do?

Thanks

Deryck.

Hello Everybody
I now have a fully opperational machine. Last night i machined two bearing supports for a frend who is building an anomometer. Imilled two round pockets  and both times the bearing fitted in with a few light taps.
Am I ever pleased. The diameter was with in 1/100 mm of the correct size and no flats any where to be seen on the curves.

Thank you every body for your advise and help.
Now I have to fit all the guards.
I will post a few photos when it is all complete.

I discovered where the wiring error came in. On further investigation by my Father who does not like to make mistakes , we discovered thet out of the five male and female connectors we bought, the males terminals were all numbered the same but two of the five female connectors had terminals numbered differently the the other  three.  How does this happen.

Hello Hood.

I have checked my ports and pins im Mach 3 and the are pin 2 x step pin 3 x direction pin 4 y step and so on and all seem correct so I went back to first principals and checked my wiring from my g 540 plugs to the motors. We had added an extra set of plugs to go through the machine cabinet wall on the machine and my father had muddled up the wiring sequence so all is well again. For once it was no me that had made the mistake. Thank you for your advice. We are ready to connect every thing onto the mill next so hope to cut metal this weekend if I do not make any more stupid blunders.
Thank you for your patience with a CNC Newbie.

General Mach Discussion / Stepper jitters
« on: July 15, 2013, 07:55:24 PM »
I have had 4 stepper motors running on a Gecko 540  on the bench and all was looking good.Last night my steppers all got he jitters. When i enter a feed comand they just vibrate backwards and fowards a step or so but will not rotate, all four axis are the same.
What have I done wrong or where can I look?

Hello Hood

Yes It is working now but only on and off. I cannot set the speed yet.
I had an incomplete manual for the VFD and needed to change the default settings to external control. i think there is another setting for speed somewhere but i must still find it.
Yesterday my steppers all stopped working and now have the jitters, they twich backwards and fowards one step but wont turn, so i am back in the woods, lost.

Thanks again.
