I click the "Motor Tuning" icon and the window will not open.
Any ideas?

I had a computer built but the modern mb's port adress would not work on mach3.
I did a search for motherboards user friendly to mach and came up with these two.
Asus - M2N68-AM SE2. Which seems to be old used stuff with rs232 connections
GA-8 SIMLH P4 Titan-DDR, that has usb and ethernet connections.
Is there another option? I'm running on a rs232 cable and the machine runs great until the damn computer dies.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I've had Mach 3 running a mill for several years now on multiple Dell computers with XP. When the computer dies, I buy another one off ebay. In the past I've copied my backed up Mach 3 and other files onto c: drive and the thing would run. I'm getting old and this time I missed something. Mach will come up and show my registered name on my license. I can hit axis feed buttons and the display changes but the axis' will not move. All the parameters seem to be right. Printer port enabled.
Any help will be appreciated

General Mach Discussion / Computer died, starting over, what to buy?
« on: March 07, 2016, 10:17:53 AM »
I have a mill that ran Mach 3. Had been up and running fine for several years, but the computer guy says my motherboard is dead with no hope of resurrection. I have Mach 3 saved to a thumb drive and pictures of all the parameter pages. I am dealing with some other software on a plasma table that requires the 0x378 legacy address for the lpt. I figure I'm going to go through the same mess with this software and the legacy address. Does anyone sell a computer that still has this address? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

General Mach Discussion / 4 axis Job Display problem
« on: November 19, 2012, 01:31:19 PM »
Friday I was doing some engraving on a 4 axis mill, with the rotary head oriented along the x axis.Been doing this for a couple of years now. No problem. I noticed that the Job Display was actually showing the engraving in the right orientation, ie around the part. This was the first time it had done this! Usually it just shows some jumbled lines in x and y. I loaded another program Saturday and it went back to the jumbled lines. How do I turn this feature on so that I see the toolpath rotated around the part?
thanks

Machine has been and running great with 4th axis. Turned it on today and I get incremental movement on the a (4th) axis. I give it a a command and the rotary head doesn't have a fluid movement to that position, just a jerky move a couple of degrees, dead stop, repeat until A position reached. Even in G1. I don't remember changing any parameters.
Any Help?

General Mach Discussion / Windows xp locks up
« on: February 11, 2012, 01:15:07 PM »
I've been searching and reading about xp locking up for a while now. I've read a post in here somewhere that described how to kill all the crap running in the background. Can someone direct me to that post or tell me what to do? I always thought it was my old pc. My hard drive died and I had a new one put in and after getting the machine running again, it locked up. When this happens, the cpu usage show to be maxed out.
thanks

General Mach Discussion / computer problem, need to save what I can
« on: January 03, 2012, 08:34:29 AM »
Looks like my computer for my Mach3 conversion has bitten the dust. When I boot up it gives me this error:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the above file.

I'm hoping I can get to a dos prompt to recover my Mach3 programs and settings. I'll probably end up taking it to the computer doctor, but they tend to wipe the drive and start over.

A little history first. I've been machining and programming for 28 years, with so many different softwares and operating systems it isn't even funny.
Currently I'm roughing out my parts with backlash comp off, which gives me the nice smooth machine motion. I then stop the program and go into "config" and turn backlash comp on. Then re-start the programed tool path. This gives me very true circles, but does look a little funky while running. But that's ok because I know what it is doing.
Is there a code I can use to turn this on and off?
Thanks

ps. My programs typically have several thousand lines, so leaving the option on can add a lot of time.

I have issues with mach3 locking up my computer. Ground to this or that, doesn't matter. I need to delete these other programs? Can I get a full list?
Thanks
