I am looking for someone to collaborate with me on developing a way to use the z axis with a traditional lever (drill press type) switch over from the mpg.  Someone who has experience with the mpg and Mach3 would be needed.  Contact via email to discuss further

General Mach Discussion / jog lockup
« on: June 26, 2013, 10:04:57 PM »
I am running  Mach3 ver R3.042.040.  Sometimes when running a fast jog (shift arrow keys) the fast travel doesn't stop when I release the keys.  A couple of times this has been very scary.  The keyboard is fine, and it has happened on all 3 axis.  I am running servos with a Galil board.  Any ideas?
Thanks

Galil / galil 17xx and mach 3 setup
« on: July 20, 2012, 08:46:56 AM »
I have a Galil 17xx ISA board with 100 pin connector cable running to an ICM-2900 module.  How do I configure the ports for the home X,Y,Z inputs?  The pin number and port numbers are 0.  I don't see anything in the instructions that indicate how to assign these for the ISA version only the LPT version.  If you could also instruct on how to wire in the home swithch I would appreciate it.  Do I need to see how the limit switches are set up--sinking or sourcing current for the limit switches and match them?
Thanks

Galil / Galil and Mach3 in CT
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:35:07 PM »
I have a Galil 1740 isa card running with Mach3.  I am getting an error that the motor is not on when I try to use either Mach3 or the Galil WSDK.  I am a total newbie and know the unit was working when I bought it.  It's using an Octagon Systems controller with SEM servo motors and encoders.  Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

General Mach Discussion / DRO mode instead of cnc
« on: July 02, 2011, 01:48:57 AM »
Is there any software add in or external device that can simply allow the reading of linear scales which have been installed through a Galil device in a manual mode?  I need to be able to zero the axis independantly of each other like in any dro.  Please help if you know how to do this.

General Mach Discussion / mach 3 as DRO
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:28:43 PM »
Hi,  I'm new to mach3.  Just bought a supermax with mach3 control and bobcad/cam v20.  Unit has linear scales and servo motors.  The manual is very intimidating.  I have years of exp as machinist, but having problems setting up unit.  Is there some way to use in DRO mode as a manual mill with position readouts until I sort out the cnc side of things?  The manual doesn't seem to address doing this.  I can read out position, but can't zero an individual axis.
Thanks
