Hello Chaps
I am using NFS turn and It is going quite nicely

is there a way for me to set the default folder location or is this setting hardcoded into the
software.
I would like work with NFS in my c:/gcode file rather than the file being embedded deeply
into the mach3 folder?
many thanks

Hello Rich,
I have been following the "pattern" of sequences as follows.

1.switch on the machine.
2.cancel the flashing red button
3.using the manual screen I set home x then set home z
4. put a 30 diameter stock in the chuck
5. jog x axix so the tool just touches the 30mm dia
6. set dro ( the one on top left of the screen) x=40
7. jog the z axis to right hand of stock
8. set DRO to z=0

Is this an acceptable good practice ?
you said that you had a custom screen to make it all simple
could I please get a copy of that screen?
thank you very much
best regards

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / using nfs turn wizard
« on: November 12, 2019, 07:31:05 AM »
Hello Ron,
Please tell me if my logic is correct.
Say I have a piece of stock in the chuck and Mach3 is calibrated and homed
the rough stock is 90mm in diameter and z0 is to the right of the stock near the end
( awat from the chuck)
what I want to do is to face the stock off to z0x0
and turn the OD down to 80mm
Using NFS turn am I going about this correctly as follows?
step 1 start new file
step 2 "add to file"
step 3 select tool and set feed and speed
step 4 "add to file"
step 5 select "facing off " and enter the operations
step 6 " add to file"
step 7 select "turning " and enter operations
step 8 "add to file"
step 9 select end program
step 10 "add to file"
step 11 "Do It"

After the job is done I will save the file under a suitable name

I am hoping to have gcode file - but when I open the file only
the last operation is coded !!
what am I doing wrong??
please help
best regards
Fred

Hello Chaps,
I am making progress with my mach3 lathe and am getting more comfortable with it every day.
Short question
what is good practise? should I calibrate the part size before setting "home"
or is it better to set home first then calibrate the part size?
