sorry Ian _ I am confused

I loaded the screen that is called 1024.set. (I see it should have been 1024.lset
is this a problem--)

Now this 1024.set has become my default screen when I start up.
I want to get back to the original lathe screen.
What is the filename for the original lathe screen and where should that file be
in the mach3 folder?

regards fred

Hello Chaps-  Please tell me is this is an acceptable way to correct a stepper motor
 that is not measuring correctly

Select this page

Config->motor tuning
Example setting Z axis on lathe machine in millimetres
after setting the zero position on the Axix dro to Zero and pressing enter
I give the instruction G0 Z-100

Then I measure the distance actually moved and find that it has moved 110 mm

My current setting in steps per is 250

I do the followimg sum   250 divide 110  multiply 100  = 227.27
enter 227.27  into the steps per-- window in motor tuning screen

Thanks chaps-
The detailed screen seems to have much more functionality-
should i set it up as the default screen ?
or will that bring about more complications?

General Mach Discussion / Motor tuning- missing save button??
« on: May 10, 2012, 05:19:56 AM »
Hi guys--

I am going to tune the motor on the Z axis and am following the instructions in the manual:-

Section 5.6.1.4 says

"5.6.1.4 Mach3 steps per unit
So now we can finally calculate:
Mach3 steps per unit = Mach3 steps per rev x Motor revs per unit
Figure 5.9 shows the dialog for Config>Motor Tuning. Click a button to select the axis
which you are configuring and enter the calculated value of Mach3 Steps per unit in the box
above the Save button.. This value does not have to be an integer so you can achieve as
much accuracy as you wish. To avoid forgetting later click Save Axis Tuning now"

But on my Figure 5.9 there is no save button??

Where must i enter the value calculated?

regards
