General Mach Discussion / electric tool changer
« on: January 06, 2015, 12:42:06 PM »
Hello Guys
I have googled and alibaba'ed looking for an electric stepper driven tool turret
and have not found what i an looking for. China is the most likely source because
of price- but i am having a lot of difficulty in communicating my requirement to
the charming chinese girls who seem to monopolise the email " call centers"
Can someone point me to somewhere where i may be able to find what i am looking for.

Ideally it would be a typical 4 tool tool turret - operated electrically - but I would like
it to be fitted with a quickchange tool post maybe something like the dickson type?
can anyone help?
regards

General Mach Discussion / using an inverter to control speed
« on: January 06, 2015, 12:34:17 PM »
Hi guys--
I have had an omron 3G3MX2 multi- function compact inverter connected to my lathe-
the intention being for it to control the speed for using constant surface speed. It was
connected by an expert who is now on leave

During modifications to the limit switches and wiring  i somehow lost the plot with the
controller and now i cant get it back to function again.
( all the service guys are on leave so i am stymied)

My problem is that i dont know how to set the inverter up in the first place. the operating
manual is written in electronic jargon which means nothing to me.
I there somewhere or can someone please tell me how one goes about programming this little
monster.
I seem to think that you have to switch it on somehow then select a mode or something
and then put in some sort of code that the thing will understand.
If someone could give me the sequence of programming it i am sure i will master it

I picked up a thread from 2012 in which you showed a 12 tool tool changer you were going to manufacture

Did you get it going??

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Wizards question
« on: December 06, 2012, 04:02:41 AM »
hello Chaps,

Few questions on the wizards that come with Machturn.

1. When I call up wizards from the main menu and then select turning
a selection of pictures of the possible operations is brought up on the screen.
Where is the file that is run and what is it called??
2. when posting the code after inserting the sizes the wizard creates gcode
to do the job. A standard set of initialization words are used which prep the
machine so it knows what it is doing. Is it possible to edit the code that writes this
initialization to insert different words at that stage ?

General Mach Discussion / Re: block delete control
« on: November 27, 2012, 04:23:03 AM »
Thanks Klaus--
yes what I want to know is if there is a command that i can use in the gcode which will
instruct the processer to ignore certain lines.

I would like to toggle block delete on or off by setting a "mode"
the purpose is that while debugging it is often quick and convienent to skip some of the
subroutines just to speed up the debugging process. In programming this function would
be applied as follows
blockdelete=.true.

if blockdelete = .true. then go to line ???? else go to line ZZZZ

this enables the skipping of large parts of the code while blockdelete is on.
when debugging is completed we just change the line blockdelete to .false.

Hello Klaus--

actually I would like to have a gcode word to activate the block delete control function

I would use it to jump lines while i am debugging .
