General Mach Discussion / writing subroutines

Hello Chaps ,
I seem to be running around in circles like a fowl with its head cut off.
I am sure someone can help me
I want to machine a rod down to a certain diameter using a subroutine
and parameters
#1 is the starting diameter
#2 is the finished diameter
#3 is the depth of cut
(The material between the two diameters has to be removed .)
For ease of understanding lets say start at 103mm and machine down
to 89mm in 2 mm depth of cut.
My intention is to take the first cut and jump into a subroutine,
execute the subroutine the correct number of times  until 1 mm is left
then jump out of the subroutine and do a final cut of 1mm

If someone could post a bit of code that I can work through that does this-
then I would be very happy

Hello Chaps
I am using mach3
I am debugging and want to know how to monitor the values of the parameters.
I went to "operator -gcode var monitor " but it only shows 4 of the parameters
how can i get it to show more?

General Mach Discussion / after overwriting folder mach will not run

Hello Chaps--
I have mach 3 installed on two seperate computers - one in office and one in workshop

I spent some time cleaning up and tidying up the office folder and decided to copy the folder
on to the workshop machine.
On the workshop machine I copied the whole folder onto a stick - I recreated a mach3 folder
and copied the mach3 folder from the office into the new mach3 folder on the workshop machine

When I started the workshop machine it wouldnt run. so I took out the whole folder and all files
and using the mach setup file I reinstalled mach 3 . It said that I didnt have a liscence so I copied
the files from the stick onto the workshop machine.
Now everything starts up but jogging the arrow keys does not move the steppers
Does any one know what may be wrong?

General Mach Discussion / feed per rev versus feed per minute

Hello Chaps
I am using mach3 turn and mainly turning plastic
I have initialized the code to g21 which call for feed per revolution.
I am finding that during the program the feedrate changes of it own accord.
I set the feed at F0.5. but when running the feed fluctuates between 0.2 and as
high as 1.5
I am on windows 10 with a 64 bit machine - can anyone offer a reason?
in the meantime I am going to be using feed per minute to see if it gives
consistency

General Mach Discussion / homing sequence (G28)

Hello All
I am using mach3 on my lathe
when I  call G28  to home - the machine homes the in a straight line to the
home position
I need it to home the x axis first ( taking the tool away from the stocK) and thereafter
to home the z axis
What is the code to do this?
