General Mach Discussion / Motor tuning- missing save button??
« on: May 10, 2012, 05:19:56 AM »
Hi guys--

I am going to tune the motor on the Z axis and am following the instructions in the manual:-

Section 5.6.1.4 says

"5.6.1.4 Mach3 steps per unit
So now we can finally calculate:
Mach3 steps per unit = Mach3 steps per rev x Motor revs per unit
Figure 5.9 shows the dialog for Config>Motor Tuning. Click a button to select the axis
which you are configuring and enter the calculated value of Mach3 Steps per unit in the box
above the Save button.. This value does not have to be an integer so you can achieve as
much accuracy as you wish. To avoid forgetting later click Save Axis Tuning now"

But on my Figure 5.9 there is no save button??

Where must i enter the value calculated?

General Mach Discussion / different screens displayed
« on: May 10, 2012, 04:50:29 AM »
Hello Guys--

I am using Mach3 on a lathe  and the screen that appears when I startup is very basic
just " welcome to mach3 professional turn" and four buttons down the righthand side.

If i open Mach3 by clicking on the file in explorer i get a very different screen with lots of buttons
and much more detail.

Questiona are

 - can I use either screen and will they refer to the same config?

- How do i get mach3 to open the detailed screen by default

- In your opinion- which screen should I use ?

Hello Guys--

I see that when a reference is made to an old topic there is often a topic number
quoted ( as per the example below). then by clicking on that address i go
straight to the topic

http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,6657.10.html

I am preparing an index of topics for my own use and would like to know
where to find the topic number ( e.g. "index.php/topic,6657.10.html)

many thanks

General Mach Discussion / explain soft limits please
« on: April 11, 2012, 12:16:35 PM »
Hello all,

lathe - regarding soft limits

When setting up config/home/limits we are asked to set up soft limits

where is the origin for the point that the soft limit is measured from?

Is my assumption that setting soft limits to +100 and -100 that the
limit of movement will be Home position plus minus 100?

many thank

( lovely weather here in Johannesburg)

Hello There-
I have been reading the topics from  way back in time.

Now I would like to look up an old topic and would you please
suggest the best way to do it

For example

there was a topic on dynamically setting the depth of cut that was posted by
wwdusty on march 7th 2008-
How can I look that topic up?
many thanks
