General Mach Discussion / Re: Mill homing

Could you explain a little more on persistant Offsets and DRO's I do not understand?
Can you set mach to 0 on start up at this page?
I now get what you mean about the motors moving on start up, I witnessed this last night, its not a huge problem for me as I am only routing wooden parts and my gearing is quite high so from a step jump I get microns of movement.
Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Mill homing

Is there a tick box or something similar which will make Mach 3 remember where it is from PC shutdown to restart? every time I start it Mach 3 comes to life with a completely random set of coordinates and I have to find the origin of my work every time and re zero everything.
Eventually I will invest the time in a set of home limits but at the moment I am much too busy playing with the mill.
Mach 3 does give me a message on closing to save the fixture which I accept but this does not remember where I am, any advice would be usefull.
Thanks.

Hood
Runs fine, I did take the PC to bits and had a cooling fan full of fluff, mills running behind me as I type, thanks for your help
I will keep my eyes out for a replacement PC as I think this one is at the end of its life.
Regards.

Hood,
dashed home at lunch and tried what you suggested, there was no *set files in the Mach 3 folder, I reloaded Mach 3 from disc and it opened up alright, will it have kept all thee settings, I didn't have time to test it.
I will have to run it tonight to check it out.
Does this sort of think just happen?  should I keep a backup of the *set files somewhere else on the machine in case?
thanks for the steer.

Hello all,
I am a mechanical design engineer using solidworks within a process automation company. I have always had an interest in Cad Cam and also PLC, my lovely wife bought me a 4 axis breakout board complete with power supply and stepper motors for Christmas this year so I have built MkI of my CNC router and have it working with Mach 3 in demo mode, I will need some help getting my home switches going. I am looking forward to buying the full version of Mach 3 so I can unleash the potential of Paul4865 MkI router
