General Mach Discussion / Re: How to create a plugin for Mach3

Hi Peta,

Have a look at the Ethernet Smoothstepper board from Warp9.
That would save you alot of work and you can use it on your laptop ethernet port.
They also have a USB version however I would recomend the Ethernet version.

Good luck with it.

Cheers Al.

Maybe a list of all the legitimate distributors would be a help too.
I bought mine from Homan Designs in Australia.
Anyone who is thinking of pirating this software should be shamed.
At $150 bucks or so its got to be one of the best value softwares around.
Pay the money it's worth every cent.
It's not like others which charge thousands.

I have given up on this piece of junk.
And I would suggest anyone else do the same before it wrecks your PC.
It has damaged my serial port on my computer.
Not happy at all with it.

I pulled the Encoder switch out and built my own MPG which works a treat.

Cheers Alllan.

I was thinking maybe use mpg #2 input and then write a brain to control the feed override.
What do you think?

Hi Everyone,

Ive seen these 20ppr greyscale rotary encoder switches on Ebay.
10 for about $6.
I was just thinking maybe they would make a good feedrate overide control.
Has anyone done this?
Would be great to hear if it worked well or not.

Cheers Allan.

Try running it without cutting any material and see if it still has the problem.

If it works ok like this then you may need to look at a bigger Z motor or maybe some gear reduction to increase your torque.

Also check your tool is sharp, Try increasing RPM or reduce feed rate for the Z moves.

Hi,

Give 2032 a try.

I work it out like this.

25.4mm (1 inch) divide 5mm pitch = 5.08

so that means you need 5.08 revolutions to move 1 inch

now multiply 5.08 by 200 steps per rev =1016

as your driver is set to 1:2 then multiply 1016 by 2 =2032

so you should set to 2032 steps per inch.

I think that's right.

Cheers Allan

Thanks Hood. Good point.
Maybe Ill look at recessing the handwheel a bit.

I,m normally running a mazak machining center so I,m trying to sort of base my layout on that just to keep things familiar.

Cheers Al.
