General Mach Discussion / Help needed to engrave emblem...
« on: March 31, 2021, 12:36:03 AM »
I have a Syil X6 VMC with Mach3 and ArtSoft version 3.00 and I need someone to walk me through how to load a picture of a minibike (hand drawn) into my machine and convert it into G-code so the image can be cut on large plastic key fobs.  Would someone please help me with this project?  It's for a minibike reunion.

Thank you kindly,
Mariah

Jeff, TP,

Guys I want to thank you both for your help, but my brain is fried.  I have read Smid's 3rd edition programming manual over and over along with the Mach Turn pdf info and I just can't get my control to respond to the offsets.  I just realized that I have spent over 100hrs. troubleshooting a simple program with no progress...I give up.
Thanks,
Mariah

I thought M99 meant end of sub & return to next line of main program.  How should I return call to main program for successive cuts that will feed Z farther into my part?  When I run in auto cycle it reads my whole main program but ignors any tool or fixture offsets to remove additional stock and it doesn't show any error message?

When I single block through the last few lines of my subroutine there is an error message that says  "Return Called with no sub in effect...Looping"  M99 is only placed once at the end of the subroutine, what does this message mean?

Thanks

I got this straightened out, entering G59 caused an error in my GCode so changing it to G52 got my program to display.

The thing that has got me into this is cutting an involute curve with a subroutine, I can't find a suitable way to move my tool Z- to take the next cut.  Any advice will be much appreciated and thank you guys for the help with my GCode error!

Hood...I checked CPU and it's near 0% then spikes up to 50-100% for a brief second when the program starts loading.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 Turn closes when loading program...
« on: April 03, 2011, 11:22:49 PM »
One part program that I have wrote and have run on my lathe several times is now causing Mach3 to shut down when I try to reload it.  While it is scaning through the g code it just goes blank and shows my desktop.  When this happens I must run the driver test to get Mach 3 to reopen.  Other part programs load as they should with no problem.
What happened here?  Can someone please help me with this?  I need to get some parts made.

Thanks,
Mariah

:-*  Hi my name is Mariah and I have been interested in making things with machine tools since my teenage days.  In Vo-tech school I studied machine tool technology and got the basics to get hired in machine shops, the pay was great compared to other things and I really enjoyed the work!  As time went on I had the chance to run such things as a Pratt & Whitney Viking (BIG horizontal machining center), Cincinati Millacron, OKK Vertical Machining Center and Mori Seiki turning center.

Since then I have acquired a modest collection of machines in my basement which has turned into a functional machine shop, recently I have retrofitted my 100 year old Hardinge Bros. #4 lathe to CNC with a kit from Logitrol which I am trying to get up and running at this time.

It's nice to be in a group of people with shared interests and I hope some of you will be able to help me with my questions that arise from time to time about programming.

Best wishes to all,
Mariah    :-*

General Mach Discussion / Using subroutines
« on: March 26, 2011, 03:17:27 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I am using Mach 3 Turn on my lathe and when I try to use a subroutine I keep getting an error message "Miissing subroutine definition", could someone please lead me through this to find what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Mariah
