Now I realize that no one will help me with my "problem". Thanks....

Why do you say that Mach3is old? Just because the developer doesn't work to upgrade Mach3 and passed on Mach5 is not a reason for me to left aside this"old and deprecated" soft. Maybe I can't afford to buy Mach4 and I own Mach3. So it is a big mistake to try something new on old soft? I don't need "big force", I just want to try something new, something which can make me proud of myself.
If Arduino works with Grbl and other software, why do you want to make me to abort what am I going to do?
No disrespect, but it is a offense to ask something what I don't know?
I just wanted to know how Mach3 send axe's impulses for moving. I will use Mach3 more, even if you say that is old. Not saying that Mach4 is not good, I just can't afford it.
Until now I have done many fine things with "old Mac3".... And I will keep doing...

All respect for you and all Mach(3-4) user's....
Greetings from Romania.

I am using modbus slave not grbl upload. I want to know how/ where I can find those signals in Mach3.

Hi there,

I know that this topic is old but can you manage to make Mach3 to "talk" with Arduino?
If yes.... How manage to send out to Arduino the signals for moving axes? (xstep, xdir.....)
And how can be adresed bit's upper than 15?

In one word.... Can you share with us what you done?

Thank's in advance from Romania.

Brains Development / MODBUS and Mach3 Signals

Hi everyone,

I am trying to connect an Arduino Uno with CNC Shield with Mach3 through usb.
I can't find how can I transmit signals for step/dir from Mach3 to Arduino.
How can I find a way to do this?

I have also an Arduino Mega 2560 if needed.

Thank you in advance

Hi there,

Same here. But I make Mach3 to send Spindle Start/Stop through Arduino and CNC shield on pin 12.
I can't convince MACH3 to send pulses for step / dir for x, y and z, and receive info about Resume, Hold and Abort buttons from Arduino.
I don't know how to make / configure brains for these actions.
Can anyone help us with this?

Thank's in advance.

Hello,
I'm from Romania, in 2010 I started to reuse an old type CNC FANUC. I removed all the engines are using a dodgy control system, and we replaced them with three stepper motors. If this equipment consume over 12 kW per 8 hours, now only consumes 4 kW to 8 hours.
You can see www.einstein.ucoz.com, and some instant with this machine work. Space is 2m / 2m / 50cm. Routing engine is a 2.2 kW with frequency control. X axis is driven by a stepper motor 8 Nm, a Y-axis stepper motor 11 Nm and a Z axis stepper motor 11 Nm.
But I ran out of work due to employer. He also must pay my salary for 3 months, but he is hiding and he hung up phone.
This is the situation. I am proud of the machine that I made it, which I'm sure it will rot, with no one able to use.
There are currently required to reuse a wood lathe.
The wood lathe is pretty old, uses a programmable memory card with an EPROM.
Because I found a solution to reschedule this system, I thought to use MACH3 Lathe.
I found a supplier of materials needed to build a CNC, I chose the guide rails and ball screws with bushings and ball nuts. The price is rather high, but I think it's worth.
I started my build a CNC, but I do not know how to do transmission.
My CNC is small, about 500mm / 500mm / 200mm x / y / z.
Stepping motors we use are about 4Nm, belts are too expensive and hard to find, I am plan to use screws, and M6 screws I have <metrics> M8.
Is can be used?
I greet and wish you Luck.
