General Mach Discussion / Re: Z Value increases on its own - Problem

Geh7552, what do you mean with "creeping"? Is that only the Z DRO or is it the actual head? With our machine it goes to the max value very quick! I will also see If I can get some G-Code where it happened!

General Mach Discussion / Z Value increases on its own - Problem
« on: March 20, 2013, 06:00:34 AM »
Hi All,

We have a problem where the Z Value (Only the DRO) suddenly moves up to the THC MAX Level - For no apparent reason...

We manufacture CNC Plasma Machines and the problem only happens now and then... We use same PC's and same software version (Version R3.043.022).

Example: Cutting a square plate 500mm x500mm
- Start to cut - no problem (THC is active)
- THC is working - manually adjust the height with our own THC module
- THC Up/DOWN lights flicker - communication is good with THC controller
- Suddenly the ZValue DRO (not the torch itself) will move up (and quick - within 1s) to Z50 (same as our THC max value) (no THC UP signal recieved...)
- Plate is deforming and torch tip comes closer to material
- Because MACH3 thinks it is already at the THC MAX value it does not move torch up and torch touches plate and Collision switch activates
 or
- if the cut is completed without crashing the torch half way, at the end of the cut the Torch crashes into the plate trying to move to [G00 Z30]... It thinks it's at 50mm above material...

Anybody have any idea about this?

I Use MachScreen V1.52. When I insert OEM 28 (or 27) I get different functions...
On MachScreen:
27OEM Code = Screen Select #27
27Std Code = Ref C

28OEM Code = Screen Select #28
28Std Code = Joystick Toggle

...What other codes could it be? Are you using something else where THCUP = 27 & THCDown = 28?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Just 2 things:
1. I Can't seem to find the OEM codes for THCup() and THCDown()... ?
2. I don't wan't to use an external switch for up & Down - but 2 buttons on the screen itself. I already have 2 buttons on the KB for that.

any ideas?

General Mach Discussion / THC UP() Button?
« on: November 29, 2012, 02:18:59 AM »
Hi,

Is it possible to assign buttons on the Home Screen to move Z up/Down while cutting?

I have OxyFuel Cutter. In P&P I have activated the [Allow THC up/Down while not in THC Mode]. Then I have Assigned hotkeys for THC UP/Down under Inputs to move keys with keyboard. All of that works perfectly...

I just can't seem to get the buttons on the main screen to work. Is it possible to have hotkeys and buttons for the same function?

Thnx Terry, works!!...BUT...

There is 2 things:
1. It works when the THC is of, it pause and gives the message. I've tested it on my notebook, so it should stop, since I don't have the "arc Good" signal to work with. But now it continues when the THC IS active - EVEN though there is no signal.. ?? Should the macro set a certain variable back to zero again after you have pressed stop or something?
2. The message stays on the screen, can I get rid of it when pressing START again? How?

Thnx so far!

That sounds like it might work!  :)

We use a Hypertherm Plasma Cutter, so we can use the Arc Good Signal. As for the THC , THAT is local! We use TurboNest for nesting/CAM and we have modified it to disable THC with holes with certain diameter... That is where the problem comes in. When we have THC ON (like you said...) it does work, and machine will not move with THC ON because it is not "authorised" to do so. That part does work! However, whenever we cut the smaller holes with THC disabled the torch sometimes misfire and continue moving, and if the operator doesn't see it, Mach keeps on going because it thinks everything is OK.

So now I want to force MACH to stop/pause when we get no current transfer (good arc).

Any help with the M3 code will help, thanks!! I'm not very good with that...

We use a local (other) system.
