Thanks, Hood, you saved my day  :).  I thought I was going to have to recreate my config from scratch.

General Mach Discussion / Can I change kernel in xml?
« on: February 01, 2010, 07:54:59 AM »
Hello,

Aparently I changed the kernel speed to 100khz in mach3, I shut down and restarted mach3 and it want start in that configuration, it tries to start and just hangs the entier computer, I have to use the power button to shut down and restart. I can use other xml files to start but not that one. i have looked at the xml file, but cant find anything that looks like kernel speed. Can I change it in the xml with an editor?

Thanks,

Matt

General Mach Discussion / Re: encoder help please

Thanks Hood,

I would just like to get encoder info to use as DRO, I am mainly just wanting to get some positioning info. I am using steppers so I know I can't have true closed loop.

Thanks,

Matt

« on: December 20, 2007, 06:23:03 PM »
OK, Im kind of new to cnc, I have been messing around for a while with
it but am just getting into building machines. I have a bidirectional
board from cnc4pc and some us digital encoders and can't figure out
how to make them work with the mach3 controller, Are there any good
web sites or info someone can point me to. i hook them up to the ports
and try configuering them but i get no response on mach3. Do I need to enabel them somehow?

Thanks

Brian

Sorry it took so long. I've been out of town. X is 7900, Y is 1018.589 on a rack and pinion, and Z is 6400.

Thanks for the help.

General Mach Discussion / Help needed on MACH3 setup.
« on: May 16, 2007, 03:11:48 PM »
I have been messing with Mach3 for a while. I have been using it on a roter table with ballscrew X-axis and rack gaer Y-axis (Z ballscrew) I have never been able to get a good repeat on the machine it seems to allways be out a little, even when I try moving in one direction with .01 incramrnts, I have a dial indicator on it and each time I move 1 incrament it seems to lose or gain a little even in he same direction. The machine is ridiged and I have checkd the backlash. If I move using a manual wheel and a scale on the wheel it works fine. Can someone let me know something else to check, maybe a seting in the computer or frequency problem. Colud it be wires or even paralell port seting. Any help would be greatly apriciated. I am using zylotex controller and motors (269oz) the machine is a 3x3 table to router, my computer is a dell 1.5ghtz with WindowXP PRO and 1 gig of ram.

Thanks

Matt
