All very useful info, thanks Ron. Dosumentation is important for this project as I imagine we will be supporting this machine for some time to come....

Scott, good tip, I too have begun to "backup" my Button Scripts to an external file which I can Edit. Brian Let us know what you find out, I have a great deal of scripting to create and debug for this machine and every little bit will help ;)

gotcha.... thanks, Maybe that will help.
I Have been saving the Script.. But Iguess it is Buried in the screen Set and thus does not get saved... unless you save the screen set.

Brian, Any reason why the scripts dont save sometimes?

Hello All  :), I have been doing a fair bit of script editing for buttons etc within Mach lately and have encountered some frustrating issues. I m wondering if I am doing something stupid or wether it is a bug. I have found that when Editing a Button Script sometimes it doesnt "Save" Even though I have saved it. This seems to be especially true if I edit a Script when It has tried to run but has a compile error and Mach has opened the window for me to look at the script. In Fact it NEVER saves the scripts in this instance, I allways have to exit that screen goto the menu and select edit button script. Also is there anyway to find out where the compile error or syntax error is within the script? Is there another tool better suited to editing the button scripts? I Love Mach 3 and I really dont want to sound un-appreciative of everyones efforts but if this is how you all create screens and the associated scripts I am amazed you all are not crazy..... Anyways, any information on how everyone else creates button scripts and macros would be great!, also any tips on testing scripts, I have a tool hieght setting scripts that seems to have developed a nasty case of running the Tool into the probe really hard after the first touch which it does very nicely...... but I have found stepping through the script on my system can lead to some unpredictable happening which are even worse..... so ROCK <------> HARDPLACE Not sure how to approach the debugging.....

Thanks in advance

Mach3 and G-Rex / Re: GRex motor tuning and general configuration ?
« on: April 11, 2007, 11:30:16 AM »
I will answer the best that I can, I may be wrong so hopefully brian or someone with more know how can correct me, but basically to control the outputs for anything other than the built in Mach functions (Like the spindle and Coolant relays) you will need to create some vbasic code in either a macro or a screen button using a command like ActivateSignal(Output1) or DeActivateSignal(Output1) So You can create your own Mcodes or alter the standard Mcodes by editing the associated Macro files or creating an on-screen control to control you outputs or do both. Hope that Helped...

I Have configured my outputs, They too use port 1 and go from pin 1 to 16 corresponding to outputs 1 through 16

ArgoFanatic, The limits are basically the inputs above 16 same port 1. I dont have my system in front of me at this time but I too had similar issues with getting limits etc setup. X Limit is Input 17 y Input is 18 Z is 19 A is 20 B is 21 and c is 22 or something very close to that... I hope it helps....

General Mach Discussion / Re: Losing Position
« on: April 05, 2007, 06:21:24 PM »
JWI, Sounds all too familiar, I had been running fine for about a year with my system and then on one large job it lost .268 on the Y axis.... and .06 on the x but it happened over time because you could not tell by looking at the job untill it went back and did some re-machining with a diff bit..... then it became pretty obvious. I will look into the realtime setting in Windows... I have not optimized my system as the first time I tried, it ended up not booting up...and then it complained about everything when I finally did get it running... so I have been a bit shy about trying that again...

General Mach Discussion / Re: Losing Position
« on: April 05, 2007, 12:15:40 PM »
JWI, How does your out of position show up? Does it just creep out a little on certain axis depending on the program? Some of the programs I have run are 6-12 hrs, the really wierd thing is that after discovering the problem I went back through and basically ran the same program step by step and verified position in between and it was fine..... (Sheepishly) However I did have the screensaver turning the monitor off after 2 hours of idle time... which MAY have caused some of the problem. I have since had it show up with no screensaver... But again... could be noise....
I would be very interested in any info and insight you learn from your own issues.
