General Mach Discussion / Lathe homing with more than one tool
« on: October 02, 2008, 05:59:34 AM »
Hello. This is probably a very simple question that any lathe user can answer.
I have read and watch the tutorial but no luck.

Set up: Lathe with homing switch on the X axis. Toolholder with 8 tools.

When I press the set home, everthing works fine, it hits the homing switch and set the X=0 in the machine coords (as defined). Ok.
But I would also want that the program coordinates to change, in respect to any tool currently in use.
All tools have there on offsets defined in the tool offset window and are good in respect to the master tool.

What I am doing now, that is not good, is only to homing with tool nÂș1(master tool), then I push another button that sets an offset in the program coords. I can't do with another tool because the offsets are different.

It should be a better way.
Thank you

Feature Requests / Constant surface speed without feedback
« on: September 19, 2008, 09:23:17 AM »
It should be possible to have constant surface speed without spindle feedback (turning mode).
If I consider that the real speed is equal to the spindle speed set up by mach, CSS should work.

In fact there is an option in the ports&pins -> spindle setup -> special functions

that have: Use spindle feedback in sync modes

If it is unchecked, it should do exactly what I mean, but it does not work, still expects the feedback.
Also this should be very easy to implement.

General Mach Discussion / CSS in spindle without feedback
« on: September 17, 2008, 06:23:11 AM »
This is probably a question to lathe users.
Hello. I am finishing a lathe where I do not have spindle feedback, by my option. The spindle works fine at the desired speed, it is not so important.
I know the speed of the spindle based on the frequency that the inverter is outputing to the AC motor. Until this no problem. I probably have +-100 rpm but that is ok for my work.

The problem is that I need CSS. For what I have read, it is necessat to have the spindle feedback.

If I consider that the real speed is equal to the spindle speed set up by mach, CSS should work.
There is any way arround this one ?

Thank you

General Mach Discussion / Open door as pause
« on: September 11, 2008, 07:12:55 AM »
Hello to all.

I have a complete closed machine, were if I open its door, the program should act like a pause: turning off the rotation of the spindle, shutdown the coolant. This allows the user to inspect the work. After the door is closed, the program continues doing what it was doing (turns the spindle on, allows a accelaration time, then continues)
I do not know if this is possible. I think it is, but also some security issues are present. Anybody did something like this ? It should be common.

My second question is how can I save my current machine coordenates, tool number and tool offset being used, so that when I open Mach again, everthing will be as when I closed it.

Thank you in advance,
Filipe

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Software for process compensation moves
« on: September 04, 2008, 02:50:49 AM »
Hello.

I am looking for a software for lathe turning that would have:

1) for input a gcode file with compensated moves (that uses G41 G42 ....), for example the output of a mastercam software
2) that outputs the resulting moves without compensation that could be used in mach, since mach does not process the G41 and G42

Any ideias ?
Thank you

LazyCam (Beta) / Post Processor to change output
« on: April 02, 2008, 04:40:53 AM »
Hi to all.

I need to change the output of lazycam, for exemple from

G2 X12 Y435 I34 J546
G1 Y234

to

G3 X12 Z435 I34 K546
G1 Z234

this is for transform the active plane XY (that lazycam posts to) to XZ.
Is this possible with lazycam post processor method, or I must make ascript to do it ?

Thank you,
Filipe

Feature Requests / Turn mode. Tool tip radius compensation
« on: March 03, 2008, 12:36:19 PM »
Hi.

One think that is missing is tool tip radius compensation on lathe mode.
It is present on the tool configuration, but I think it is not being used.

Thanks.

Screen designer tips and tutorials / dro as a function
« on: February 15, 2008, 11:49:18 AM »
Hello.

I would like to have a dro to display a value that is the result of a function.
In this case I want it to display 2 * x_axis_position (to have the diameter in a lathe machine) where X represents the radius (X is correct and displays the radius).

Can this be done ? I have looked everwhere that I could remember.

Thanks

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Offset in ralation to actual position
« on: January 25, 2008, 01:39:06 PM »
Hi. This is probably simple to do, but I am difficulty in doing it.

I want to change my currently axis position from an actual value to another in relation to the present value. Some thing like:

Actual position = actual position + 30

I normally use G92 to set a position, and in this case it would be something like

G92 X[x+30]  ???

Thank you

General Mach Discussion / Licence for resellers
« on: January 21, 2008, 08:34:41 AM »
Hi.

I currently have two custom build machines ready for delivery. In both I think I will use Mach3 as the software since I tested them with Mach3 and my clients are happy with (I think).

Since I will not use Mach3 for my one use, and since I will buy more than one license should not resellers have a reselling price ? What is the "normal way" to buy and resell mach ?

I have emailed license@machsupport.com more than two weeks withou a reply.

If someone thinks I want a different price and will use the software for my one, check one of the machines that is ready to deliver in the show and tell machines under "3D Special polyurethane cutter" or my company web page directly to the services page "http://mastor.planetaclix.pt/en/services/services.htm".

Thanks, Filipe
