Hi Sam I was interested in the Biesse when it went up on Grays , did you consider just using opperting it rather than retro fitting Biesse works is ok as a program and it would have saved you the headache of the upgrading . I have a copy of Biesse works and a dongle if you are interested . I would leave the pods rather than a nesting table , the vacuum pump on the Biesse will be too small to cope with the table , also the 23 has a 100mm z travel so if you put a thick table you will loose z height .

Hi well done on the purchase of the Biesse you must be in Mowbury Tas !
Not a huge project to retrofit there are several options to control the analog servos . CSMIO /A or buy step/dir to analog cards which are available similar to the old Rutex R2000 card . Personally I like the motion control of Linux EMC and the programming . Biesse use field bus to communicate with the all the modules and sensors EMC can make it easy to streamline the internal components so you would not have to strip down the CNC just intergrate it ,

Hi Hood , thanks for the reply looks like on the CSlabs posts you have the bull by the horns and your knowledge is appreciated , my project is retrofitting a very large cnc , its mass is around 8 ton and the x axis  gantry about 3 ton so which is exciting when the P gain goes into a 3 ton oscillator  ! i think the problem i have is that the AC brushless drives are very large and their is a huge amount of EMF and harmonics from the 3 phase 425 v supply  which is stuffing up the pc and CS labs system , I have experience with many retrofits ( Linux EMC and Fanuc ) but tuning this one has been a night mere. I am not sure like like the idea of 3 stages of PID gain / command positioning and acceleration   , 1 in the servo drive , 2 in CS labs , 3 in Mach3 each one has an influence on each other , and if you dont start with a snappy well tuned servo drive its points less continuing. i am looking at big front end filters and decoupling the supply rails . thanks for your help . Hi I am trying to tune a CSMIO/A to a analog servo motor and the offset value on the PID tune  is randomly  changing from .012 to around  +3v , i can see this on my CRO their is no axis command during this time .
Any ideas

 I am retro fitting a Biesse Rover C9 router with the analogue version of CSMIO , I am very impressed with the functions of CSMIO and I am at the servo tuning stage
The servo amps have been tuned for Peak PID , however , the CSMIO following errors seem to be too large
What is a typical max Following error , the attached picture shows the following error and MAX Acceleration , the axis have a sharp response

General Mach Discussion / input pulse from laser to drive Mach3

Hi
I have a fiber laser and want to interface Mach3 to mark many small objects positioned on a large X/Y table , its not an X/Y plotter type but galvo based with a field frame size of 100 mm x 100mm so can only mark 1 object at a time.
I want to automate the process via MACH3  and load a table with objects and start the laser and sequentially mark and complete all  objects  in one pass.

The laser has an output pulse when the laser mark has finished and an input mark to start the laser .
what I would like to achieve is to have a macro that  starts the laser from an external pulse then when the laser has finished to move to the next G code , then when moved and stopped send a pulse to the input of MACH3 to start the laser and then repeat for the total objects on the table

has any one any ideas on how this can be done

please advise if further explanation is needed I can draw a timing diagram if needed

Yep helpful response <the gantry I built works with servo motors and they have been fine PID tuned so I can get a very fast rapid feedrate with little over shoot , so Raster rather than vector would be the way to go , however , spending most of the day yesterday trying to find suitable software suitable hit a few dead ends , so I think the best option is to buy a chinese DSP like MPC6252 or AWC68 from China

thanks for the reply , the labels are very small and each have a one line unique ID number ,with a true type font. I am intending to do them on a full sheet 1200 x 600 in gravoply , rowmark , traffolyte etc.

as their are 1000's time is the issue

Hi I have built an 80 watt CO2 laser running off Mach3

I have a project to laser engrave 1000's of small name plates , the text data I have been given  is populated in an excel spread sheet.

Does any one know of a software that imports excel text to a raster based Gcode so I can run off Mach3, I could convert all to one raster  image but this would take hours to engrave .I noticed  Epilog software only converts the test to raster which reduces engraving time !

Any suggestions on what software is used with Mach 3 with a laser for small text only label engraving?
