Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Home switches
« on: January 13, 2018, 08:45:14 AM »
Hi Craig,
I do not use limit switches. So I haven't been trying to set them up. Maybe i'm trying to set up my home switches in the wrong way. I have a closer look.

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 Home switches
« on: January 13, 2018, 12:06:16 AM »
I have been running Mach3 for about 7 years W/ Screenset2010 on my DIY EVO CNC without many problems. Now for some unknown reason, while running a gcode file, about every two minutes I keep getting an error code (error 3336) pop-up that shuts the program down. ArtSoft technicians doesn't know what to do about it. So now I'm trying to install Mach4 V2 W/ Ess SmoothStepper to see if it will correct these problem. I'm having trouble setting the home switches. I have proximity switches on my X,Y & Z axis and the lights will change on the home screen so I know that they work. Somewhere along the way I'm missing some settings. When I try to 'Ref All' 'Z axis' will go up and trip the switch but nothing happens and Z will not back off of the switch. I have to push 'Stop' to keep from crashing 'Z'. Can anyone give me a lead where I might look to find a good description on setting up the home switches. You can't believe how fresh out of ideas I am. I've been at this trying to fix my EVO CNC for almost two weeks. The tech at ArtSoft gave me some things to try, like turn off my spindle VFD, new drivers for my video card. Wow this has been frustrating!!!!! ??? ???
Also how do I setup my keyboard to to run the steppers with the arrow keys?

Thanks for the reply. I have been running Mach3 for about 7 years W/ Screenset2010 on my diy CNC without many problems. Screenset 2010 has an M6 manual tool change that I would like to use with Mach4, but Mach4 will not run the 2010 screensets. I was wondering if it would be possible to get your latest M6 code and help getting it into my Mach4?
Thanks in advance for your help. If it wasn't for these forums I would never have my DIY CNC working as well as it does.

P.S. I don't have Mach4 completely installed yet, trying to get all of the settings just right is a pain you know where >:( ??? >:D

The PC we have been trying to use is 64 bit so that answers a lot of questions. The sad thing is I knew that Mach3 needs 32 bit to run.  Let me ask a dumb........ Can I uninstall the Windows 7 64 bit and install Windows 7 32 bit? I think I know the answer 32 bit Window needs 32 bit CPU.

Thank Garry I thought that that would be the answer I would get. Will the UC100 work on a 64 bit PC?

Is there a way to get a laptop that does not have a parallel port only USB ports, to run Mach3 using the parallel port on my C10 BOB?
OK this may be a dumb question but I'm getting desperate to get some installation to work.........................

Gerry thanks for the reply
I'm at a complete loss on this one. I have tried to install Mach3.056 using the installer. The PC I’m trying to install on has Windows 7 OS but for some reason we can't get Mach3 to install the parallel port. When I look at the diagnostics page there is no pulse reading only 'Simulation', and no lights on the 'Port 1 pin', I'm guessing that is because Mach3 is not opening the parallel port drivers.
At this point I'm not even sure what question to ask to get a good answer.
