dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Shuttle Intermittent Recognition
« on: February 01, 2018, 03:11:16 PM »
I have a USB shuttle connected (ShuttleRU - http://cncpendant.ru/en/shuttleru.html). It is recognized sometimes and sometimes it is not in Mach3. I have the "Enable Mach3 USB MPG Mode" checkmarked in the DSPMC configuration window. Rebooting the PC or laptop or Mach3 does not help. I have not found any consistent way to get it to work. I don't know if it is a DSPMC issue or not. Do you have any suggestions on how to debug it?

The DSPMC is loaded with 4.0.41.

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Estop Button Pressed Error
« on: August 11, 2015, 10:17:11 PM »
Something has changed on my mill. I boot up Mach3 and the DSPMC. I can move the table with my pendant. If I try to enter a G01 x1, I get an error 'Estop button pressed'. This message continues to be reposted continously. There are no other messages in the log.

I don't have an estop button. There is an estop button assigned in the inputs (port 1 pin 10). Its always been that way and has worked fine. I cannot disable that assignment. If I do, when I check it again, it is enabled.

The diagnostics screen does not indicate an estop is present.

Only a reset of the DSPMC clears the problem.

Ideas?

General Mach Discussion / Ref All Home Moves .2 and stops. Won't go home
« on: December 23, 2013, 05:23:17 PM »

I have Z home enabled. X and Y are disabled. I have soft limits of +/-100,000. The input switch is not active.

I hit the Ref All Home button and the Z axis moves +.200 and stops. The Z DRO resets to whatever the initial value was. That is, if it started at -2.00, it travels .2, stops @-1.8  and resets the DRO to -2.00. No error message.

What am I doing wrong?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / DSPMC Macro
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:47:54 PM »
I have Acurite glass linear scales for a mill. They provide the position feedback and go to the encoder inputs of the DSPMC. The encoders have reference marks that are connected to the Z input of the DSPMC. The reference marks are about 1cm apart. The are positioned slightly different between marks so that after moving between marks, the count of the encoder will indicate the exact position of the table. I want to be able to count the encoder pulses between reference marks to get this exact positioning.

1. Will the macro be fast enough to do this?
2. I've read the macro manual. I don't see a way to detect the reference (Z) input. How can it be detected and then run a count until the next mark?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Stepping Moves Both Axis and Wrong Amount
« on: November 02, 2013, 05:38:05 PM »

I posted this in the General Discussion. Hood reviewed my .xml and thinks this problem may be related to the DSPMC.

Pressing the Tab key to get the pendant, I set the step function to .001". I set the Jog mode to Step. I hit any of  the left/right/up/down arrows on the keyboard. In all cases, when just pressing one arrow key, my mill moves -.005" on the X axis and -.02" in the Y axis. It doesn't matter what arrow I press, I get the same results. Both axis move in the same direction, the same amount.

But when setting the jog mode in the continuous mode, the arrows behave correctly.

Using a USB pendant, the same thing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Upgrading Issue
« on: October 12, 2013, 01:51:41 PM »

I moved my Mach 3/DSPMC to a new PC. When doing so, I upgraded the software/firmare. I've moved the 3.5.9 plugin to the Mach 3 folder. I've updated the firmware to 7.14.

When I open Mach 3, the status reads 'DSPMC/IP POnline. Plugin 3.19, DSPMC: 7762/0719, CPU Rev: 6'

I also get the error 'Encoder Polarity or Encoder Debounce out of range...'.

The Status line plugin does not match what I put in the folder. What am I doing wrong and how do I get rid of the error?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Output Issue
« on: June 26, 2011, 12:25:04 PM »

I posted a similar thread in the general forum. But now I'm wondering if this is a DSPMC issue.

I have 4 buttons defined for outputs. I have VB code written (thanks Hood) to control the output. I execute the script. The output toggles High-Low-High for  about 100ms. It does not stay in the low state as desired. Any ideas why it is doing this?

Output 3, Mach3 port 1-6, DSPMC J4-17
Output 4, Mach3 port 1-1, DSPMC J4-2
Output 5, Mach3 port 1-0, DSPMC J4-14
Output 6, Mach3 port 1-4, DSPMC J4-16

General Mach Discussion / Output Behavior
« on: June 23, 2011, 10:11:43 PM »

I used Machscreen to make some buttons to control outputs. I assigned the functions Flood ON, Flood OFF, Mist ON, Mist OFF, Output 5 ON, Output 5 Off  to the buttons. All of the 'ON' buttons cause the outputs to make a 100ms pulse, rather than change state from high-to-low or low-to-high. Why is that and how do I get the buttons to change the state of the output until I hit an 'OFF' button?

I doubt this is a Machscreen issue, so I posted here.

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Glass Scale Input
« on: May 29, 2011, 11:36:12 PM »

I have an Acu-rite system that I am retrofitting with DSPMC and Mach3. An Acu-rite system does not have encoders on the motors. They use the glass scales as the motion feedback. I have connected the glass scales to the DSPMC encoder inputs.

Problem - how do I also feed the glass scale outputs to the Mach3 DR0? Can the DSPMC do this for me?
