Mach3 and G-Rex / "Ugly, Bumpy" Cuts
« on: June 09, 2012, 07:26:28 AM »
I have (2) troubles...
1) When I cut an "X"...or a "W"...the diagonal cut that begins at the "Near" end of my table and travels "Away" from me..."Up and to the Left"...is "Bumpy"..."wiggly"..."rough". BUT...when the diagonals that are being cut...anywhere else...such as; down to the right...moving toward...etc...are beautiful....all of them. SO...I know the machine can perform.
SO...over the last two months...I've been told two conflicting things...or I just don't get it...
A) "When you set the machine up for the first time...the dimension you entered for that particular direction of travel...is wrong.
SIMPLY...go back in and change it to take a "shorter" path...and it'll be straight. That means it's a Mach Program thing. I can't help you...( the Seller ) Just change that setting. It's not the machine." The trouble there is this...it was the SELLER that "Set it up".
B) "If all the other diagonal cuts are nice looking then I do not think it is something that can be fixed in the software, or you would see the “bumpy” lines on the other sections as well. Have you physically inspected the axis for the section of that move?"
This sounds right. I even called the seller to just tell me..."Hey...your certain motor is going out. I'll ship another".
That would've been great.

Bottom line...I'm actually hoping it was the answer given in "B". That way, I could simply buy a new...something: ...motor...drive...whatever. BUT...if it's just adjusting a dimension in the Program...can you walk me through that?

Here's my second trouble...
I don't know what..."Have you physically inspected the axis for the section of that move?"...means.
I use this machine everyday to make my living. I cut the same things for 100 people.
But...I don't know what that means.
SO...do you think there's something I need to replace on the machine...if so...what are your thoughts?
...or a data entry / change that I need to make in the Mach Program?..if so...can you walk me through it?
Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Engaging the brake
« on: September 05, 2011, 08:23:55 PM »
Can I adjust when the brake engages? In other words...
When I set the RPM below 10,800 and the cut ends...or I interrupt it...my spindle slows quickly. I can hear the brake engaging. BUT...when I set the RPM above 10,800...the brake does not engage and the spindle takes a while to stop.
I've searched the Drop Down Lists for the magic button that says...ENGAGE BRAKE AT...!...to no avail.
Have I missed it?

General Mach Discussion / Error after every cut?
« on: September 09, 2010, 03:42:44 PM »
My Inverter goes to ERROR after every job.
This cannot be normal. I have to turn it off...wait...turn it on. Then I'm good to go.
Here's my only input...I did stop a cut. My Z axis wasn't high enough and my spindle bit began gouging the plastic...on its way to the next plunge.
Then I noticed the ERROR on the Inverter. I just turned it off then on...BUT
...ever since...when I'm finished with a job...say cut the lettering from a piece of plastic...it'll cut the given Tool Paths...then return to Zero...and then the Inverter goes to ERROR.
Any ideas? I'm too new to wild guess. I'm too old to think this is the way it is.
Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / My Mach Program
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:24:57 PM »
I just purchased my Router / Spindle...about one month ago.
I purchased the Desktop and Mach 3 was loaded. I have since had fall out with the Router company.
Now I'm on my own and have had no troubles.
But, I want to make sure I am a registered owner with you company.
Do I need to supply my info?..outside the public forum?
Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Raising my Z axis.
« on: August 17, 2010, 06:14:30 PM »
I just bought my first CNC...4' x 8'.
I also chose the Mach 3 Program.
...until I plane my sacrificial MDF board...I need to be able to raise my Z axis...so that it does not "skim" along the top when moving to the next cut. (Apparently, some places are a bit higher than others.)
Could you give me that info?
Thanks.
