General Mach Discussion / Re: wizard tool select trouble
« on: September 14, 2011, 07:57:17 PM »
The wizard I'm having trouble with is the Newfangled "A Suite of Handy Wizards". It just wont let me select from my tool list. Not that I can't enter it myself but it worries me that something else may fail....It is a standalone machine so I really dont think it caught a virus. Any ideas?

Hmmm.....seems to work on the PC in the house. It does however keep going over the first toolpath like you stated. On my laptop it makes some crazy crop circles when running the circle toolpath on G56. config pages look exactly the same. I have to run three operations on the mill and wanted a test code. I will move on to the real thing with this outline and see what happens. Thanks for the reply!

General Mach Discussion / wizard tool select trouble

On the "tool properties" page when I click on the "select tool from table" button nothing happens anymore....always used to work. The machine that is having the problem has never been on any network at all. Not sure what went wrong....expect I clicked on something but for the life of me I can't get it to bring up tool table when I select that button. I still can bring up the table through >config>tooltable...

General Mach Discussion / Work offsets

I'm having trouble with changing work offsets in g code. Seems to work fine if I remove cutter comp. With cutter comp it does fine with the squares but when going to G56 and doing the circle it freaks out and comes up with some crazy toolpath. This was only coded for testing....any input would be great!

General Mach Discussion / Re: phantom feedrate

Thanks for the input....I will look into that. One more thing that happens once in a while is if I hit stop (not e-stop) while running a program I lose jogging. Have tried to disable/enable jog mode but nothing. Even have tried MDI and the DRO moves but not the table, then the DRO goes back to where it was. After hitting and releasing E-stop all is good again. I am using a third party motion board, made by ajax. Any thoughts?

::) OK...just found out that F10 is both tool clamp AND feedrate override. I had not realized there were keyboard shortcuts for feedrate override when I assigned the tool clamp/unclamp. My bad.

For some reason after I do a tool change the feedrate override will sometimes increase....has anyone seen this before?

General Mach Discussion / NPT Thread milling

OK....So how do I go about thread milling NPT? I did find a macro but it didn't run correctly, but I am new to this, could have been me. Have used the thread milling wizard with great results but have the need to run NPT threads quite often.

OK...got it running but all it drew was green circles....I have been using mach in the shop with good results and thought I would get smart and sit in the house and write the code sitting in a chair! Problem was the PC I was using for code testing had no outputs enabled, big problem. All it would do is draw crop circles....found someone else that had the same issue in the past. Went to ports and pins/motor outputs and enabled x,y,z and now all is good.
