Hi Terry,

Thanks, but I already have them as you sent them to me some time ago. :)

Most people are happy for me to show off their work.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi Jeff,

That's a really nice pendant. I should set up a gallery of ModIO based pendants that people have made.

Cheers,

Peter.

Modbus / Re: Struggling with RS485 & Teco 7300CV

Hi,

Upload an image of the Mach3 Modbus setup screen. That i probably where the problem is.

Also you need to write a Brain to set the speed from the Mach3 speed variable.

Cheers,

Peter.

SmoothStepper USB / Re: Smooth Stepper: Versions? Where to buy?
« on: March 04, 2011, 04:11:42 PM »
Hi V,

From my point of view Homann Designs is the best place to buy. :)

All boards sold should be the same version, which is Version 1.2. The firmware that runs on the board is downloaded by Mach3 on startup, so there are no firmware version issues when purchasing the boards.

It probably comes down to service and shipping costs.

Cheers,

Peter.

Promote and discuss your product / New Breakout Board for the G540
« on: February 25, 2011, 01:30:18 AM »
Hi all,

As part of the expanding range of accessory board for the G540, I've just released the GC-04 DB-9 I/O Breakout Board for the Geckodrive G540 four Axis stepper controller

http://homanndesigns.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22&products_id=141

The GC-04 is a small BoB that allows you to easily wire up and access the G540 VFD and input signals.

The Boards has two DB-9 connectors (In keeping with the G540's use of DB-9), one for the VFD signals (male) and one for the inputs (female).

It should make wiring of these signals a lot easier.

BTW, As I am now the Australian Distributor for Geckodrive, I'm having a short sale to mark the event. The sale price of the G540 is US$249.00.

Get in quick as the sale end on the 28th Feb.

Cheers,

Peter.

Modbus / Re: Can someone explain how to map input on my MC-01
« on: February 23, 2011, 08:20:39 AM »
Hi Jeff,

No not the ModIO.dll. Is just gone Midnight, so this answer will be brief. And tomorrow I'm away in Ballarat.

Mach has 2 Modbus interfaces. One that works with plugins (Brains is a plugin) and the older legacy one. If you are doing all your modbus work in the macro pump then you are probably using the older one.

I did a modbus presentation. The slides are here http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,16347.msg110522.html#msg110522

Unfortunately it is an example that uses the latter modbus interface. It still may be of use to explain how modbus works with mach.

What you need to do in the meanwhile  is look through the macropumps in the customisation section of the wiki. It has examples of what you want to do. I'll answer properly when I return.

Hi Jeff,

It comes down to what interface you are using in Mach3 to communicate via Modbus. Are you using the new Plugin Serial Modbus interfaceheers,

General Mach Discussion / Re: Bad BOB???

Thanks Hood,

Just to add a bit. For any machine being driven by Size 23 motors, the G540 is arguably the best value for money.  Coupled with a 48Vdc  7A switch mode power supply, you have a complete 4 axis setup.

The G540 contains 4 separate G250 stepper drives that are user replaceable. If one blows it is easily changed. I've been using a G540 since they were first released, some 2 years ago without any issues.

Cheers,

Peter.

Larry, I tried using the extra drive output, seems that even though I felt it worked better, it still played stalled on arcs.  I really think that this Toshiba board isn't doing the job???  I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a Geckodrive 540 to replace it with.

As a replacement for the Toshiba board. the G540 would be a great choice. Coupled with a 48V 7A power supply it makes a neat self contained 4 axis stepper drive system.

I currently have the G540 on sale for US$249.00
