Modbus / Re: Homann Modio config error

Hi Mike,

As I explained in my email to you the other day, the plug is a contribution that is no longer supported by John. There appears to have been a change in Mach3 since the plugin was written that is causing the error.

I suggest that you use the Mach3 Brains to communicate with the ModIO. Every thing that the Plugin can do can be done by Mach3 Brains

Cheers,

Peter

Hi All,

I needed a tool rack for some newly purchased ER16 Collet Adaptors from Carter Tools, (thanks Nick), so I used the mill to make one over the weekend. I use Draftsight to do my Dxf drawings, Sheetcam TNG for my CAM to generate the G-Code, and Mach3 and the Taig mill to do the cutting .

I documented building the Tool Rack here and have provided the files if anyone else want to build one.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for that. I looked around for solenoids that could do the trick but could not find anything suitable.

I still need to sort the brake out, but It looks like I'll end up using pneumatics liker you.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Ray,

I'm Thinking of have a go at building one of these for my TM20VL mill. The only bit I don't like is the pneumatics to lower the Stepper.  I want to get rid of the air supply.

Did you look at other means of lowering the Stepper, such as another smaller stepper?

Cheers,

Peter

General Mach Discussion / Re: PWM Spindle Fluctuation
« on: August 04, 2012, 11:25:05 PM »
Hi,

I couldn't see anything wrong with the jumper settings. The fact it works when the axes are not moving indicates that it is unlikely to be the DigiSpeed. If the system is generating sufficient noise to interfere with the PWM signal to the DigiSpeed, then that is an issue that should be addressed. Without an oscilloscope to see what is going on with the PWM signal from Mach3, it is very difficult to determine the cause of the problem.

Do you have an index sensor connected? And do you have spindle closed loop control selected. If so this be causing a problem.

In the end, if you can't get it to work, or are not happy with it, return it and I will refund the cost of the DigiSpeed.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

It is unlikely that the DigiSpeed is faulty as I test them all myself. That said it is possible.

Can you take an image of the DigiSpeed so I can see if I can pick anything with the board and check the  up the jumper settings.

If the VFD is providing 10V to the Digispeed, you should be seeing a max of at least 9.4V

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi,

The DigiSpeed Step/Dir is not compatible with Mach3. It is for TurboCNC

The inputs to the DigiSpeed are filtered on board. The are no settings on the DigiSpeed that could be causing a fluctuation

I'm wondering if there is something with Mach3 that is causing it?

Have you done a Mach3 driver test to see if it is fluctuating?

Also do you have an oscilloscope to look at the PWM signal?

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

Step pulse width has nothing to do with the PWM output.

On the surface it sounds like EMI is getting into the PWM signal. What PWM base frequency are you using? It should be set to 50Hz.

Cheers,

Peter.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Odd spindle speed hesitation problem
« on: July 23, 2012, 01:44:34 AM »
Hi Michael,

It is unlikely to be the relay, more the flood motor. My guess that it is in Mach3 somewhere.

You could try disconnecting the flood motor and see if it still occurs. If so, disconnect the relay from the G540. That may help narrow it down.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi,

Could be acouple of things going on here.

On possibility is that electrical interference generated from the flood starting up is interfering with the PWM signal to the G540. If that was the case, I'd also expect that the step/dir lines would also be affected.

The other more likely possibility, is that Mach3 is momentarily turning of the spindle PWM when it turns on the flood output. A scope would verify that. I don't know how to check it otherwise.

Cheers,

Peter.
