Modbus / Re: More modbus "functions" or fewer (with multiple regs per)
« on: February 22, 2023, 04:37:20 PM »
Hi,
Yes it is much more efficient to read multiple registers a one time as there is quite an overhead in reading the registers one by one.

I wrote an article on using Modbus with Mach3. The concepts in it are also applicable for Mach4.

Thanks Peter, updating the macros fixed it.
I thought setting up the spindle output pins would update the macro - guess not.
Next step is spindle feedback and axis calibration  :)
Good to hear.

Peter

Also check that the pin being used for the PWM output is not also assigned to another function.

Hi
If the spindle works by toggling the Spindle button on the Mach3 screen, but not when you type M3 in the MDI window, have a look at what is in the M3 macro located in the macro directory for the profile you are using.

General Mach Discussion / Re: License question
« on: February 02, 2021, 06:53:31 PM »
Hi,
Yes, you can install Mach3 and Mach4 on the same machine.
Note that you will need a licence for Mach3 and a separate licence for Mach4.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 with CNC Step Zero-3

Hi,
You may have a catch-22 situation going on.
1. The controller is asserting the Estop as there is no charge pump signal
2. Mach3 is turning off the charge pump as it sees the Estop signal from the controller.

If you go into the Mach3 Config-> General tab, there is a checkbox called "chargepump on in Estop". Make sure that is ticked, as see if that solves your problem.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,
Which Digispeed board are you using? Also do it’s Leds indicate is is doing what it’s supposed to do?

I wouldn’t think there is a setting. If you push the EStop Mach3 tries to stop everything as quick as it can.
After all, it’s an Emergency Stop.
