Yeah hitting the button and seeing it move for the first time was like HOLY SCHNIKIES it moved! it actually moved! LOL!

 I have had this thing sitting in my shop taking up room for a long long time now and I am just now getting around to actually doing something with it. My new motor controller should be here now any day and then I will get to work getting the motors tuned in and tweaked.

The first run of my Shibaura Roibot. I had just gotten control of the motors. no tuning had been done yet and i only had control of 3 directions due to a bad motor controller opto. but it was a major step to get this thing running. Not much to look for you "Pro's" but for a newb like me with ZERO knowledge of CNC and limited Stepper knowledge this was major!

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 and win XP setup and tweaks??

I just re-purposed a nice 3ghz SFF PC for use with mach3, I have 2gb of ram, 40gig drive, and running winXP pro. I am keeping the machine stripped down and trying to keep it as clean as possible.

 I have Mach3 demo currently installed and running. I'm new to Mach3 so im learning but thus far i have watched the first video tutorials and have been able to get manual control of my motors. so far so good.

I am looking for tips and tweaks, do's and don't for setting up winXp for smooth running of my mill. are there any gotcha's? things to avoid etc?

 I will be adding a 2nd parallel port card to the machine at a later date for additional I/O

Hello,


 Newb here, I have a Shibaura RoiBot that I am just getting up and running. Currently i have some old IMS modules for a controller but i just bought a new 3-axis board from over seas that i hope will arrive one day. I am currently building a new controller box with joystick and various front panel options.  I have a new (to me) 3ghz PC running win Xp and Mach3 and K-Cam.

 So far...I have managed to get control of the motors and make them move in Mach3 under manual control. hey that's a good start! LOL!

The step pulse is a square wave and the machine triggers either on the rising or falling edge of the square wave. So active low i think....is when the transition is going from high to low. and the active high would be when the transition is going high...but i am guessing.

 and the direction line...i am still a bit confused about...I think the line is in either a high or low state but have no idea how that works just yet... any one with some definitive answers?
