Now I just need to figure out how to interface it to Mach?

I picked up a Fanuc MPG the other day. very cool. runs off 5V and has 2 outputs produces 4.2V square waves 180 deg apart. I found this page that details it.

General Mach Discussion / Re: 500 line test designs??
« on: May 12, 2011, 08:27:50 PM »
These 500 line test programs have really helped me a lot! I figured out how to edit G-code and have a program rewind and re-run endlessly and this has helped me do some stress testing of my motors and controllers. I was able to run the mill in a loop for an hour and verify that everything stayed cool. I was also able to play with the program a bit and learn what the feedrate buttons do. and experiment with my PWM spindle controller etc etc. they just have been a very big help!

I would like to suggest that the smiley face and heart designs be posted somewhere so they are easy to find for everyone. The smiley face is great for testing symmetry as you can clearly see if your circles are round and if the ends line up etc. very simple design but lots of points for examination. the heart design is very nice and very intricate. a great 2nd program!!!

THANK YOU to all that contributed and helped! I am making huge progress with my machine.

General Mach Discussion / Re: E-Stop LED Output/Pin Output

I will play with this a bit.

I have some nice 25 amp Solid state relays with LED inputs that can run of the printer port directly. it wouldn't flash but it would light up a 60watt bulb just fine. but i could also use the port to trigger a 555 timer and a SSR and then i could flash the bulb.

OOOOHHHH...hmmm yeah that would work. good idea! good idea! I hadn't thought about that.

General Mach Discussion / E-Stop LED Output/Pin Output

Is it possible to have Mach toggle an output Port Pin on and off when in E-Stop??

I want to add a large red light to the Mill that will run off a solid state relay. If there is a way to have Mach turn on or off an output pin, i can find a way to do it. It would be extra nice if it would "flash" the pin but i would be happy with just on or off LOL!

Actually i found some software that allows me to convert the flash to other formats. I was able to convert to AVI then burn a DVD.

SWEET! I got this working!

finally! what i was missing is that on the mach program run page under the spindle on/off button there was no speed listed. everything was at zero. i didn't know that you could click on the speed box and enter a number! so figuring my pulleys were setup for 0-100 i entered 50 into the speed box and hit enter and WALLA! spindle fired right up and now the up/down speed buttons work etc. so THAT was the missing step!!! I now have my spindle which is a modified Dremel tool running under PWM control!
