I really want to do this. I would assume that I use pin 13, as that is set for "tool Probe" in Mach. This is new to me. I have looked at the breakout board and cannot figure out a trace to a pad or hookup for pin 13. There is a rather nice empty 5 lead connector that when the parallel port is engaged the far pin has continuity to ground for pins 14-21. My plan is a simple wire from pin to a isolated ground plate.  Any information is appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Stuttering problem with line segments

Sorry, arcs i meant.
I am going to try turning my backlash comp off today and do some air runs see if that helps. It would be nice to eliminate.

I have this issue also, I use Rhino and export to Bobcad 25. I have noticed that when given the the choice of lines or arcs in CAM, if I choose lines it seems to smooth things out. I do not have that choice for all features. I was modeling in Rhino with no regard for control point count for a long time, I am now trying to use few ponts as possible in my drawing hoping this helps with the jerky movements. Hope you find a solution, I still deal with it often.

General Mach Discussion / Motor tuning question
« on: April 13, 2013, 11:52:20 AM »
Hi,
I have been using my K2 3925 gantry router for about 3 years now. I have driven it pretty hard and learned on it, so many crashes. ha, its been a real champ. No problems up to now.

Recently I had noticed a very low vibration when running the machine, eventually the machine would start to shutter, stall or lurch, even when not under load. The machine was vibrating badly on its rapid from G53 to G54. Mostly in the y or long axis. Spent all day yesterday cleaning, re-greasing, loosening and realigning the ball nut carriages on the machine.
Nothing was fixing the issue. I remembered that earlier a friend had been adjusting the motor tuning on the machine. I looked the 3925 default motor tuning settings up and Viola problem fixed at least on the G53 to G54 rapid, haven't cut yet.
My question is, the velocity was set to 160 on all axis, the default information found was 200. Intuitively I thought raising that number would only make things worse, I almost didn't change it.  Why was it vibrating so badly at 160.

Wondering the order or how one would go about stopping a machining program in Mach, checking zero or to move the gantry to any location for that matter then restart from the arbitrary or zero location and not lose program position. With nothing on the table I have run a program and used stop, go to zero, cycle start. This is not working as the program is losing position and yet zero is always perfect.

I am running a program where everything is off by about an eighth of an inch perfectly, so I am trying to check zero between finish, rough, etc..... to figure this out.
Any information is much appreciated.

After restarting CPU yesterday with safe Z changed to ON at a Z value of 0 machine, things seem to be working well. I am pretty sure some of my problems are coming from trying to learn how to setup G55,56 etc. .
                                                                              Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

How have you got safe Z set up?
My machine is new and until this week safe z has been turned off, but I now want to use work offsets. I have tried turning on safe z with a value of -.5,0 and .5 to machine coordinates with no success. I did not close and re-open program after making the changes, maybe I should have.
When I turn safe z on "Go To Zero" doesn't work at all, nothing is listed in status bar as a problem.

How are you commanding the move to "g55 zero"
I have machine offset coordinates set up in offset box for G55 where I would like G55 0 to be. When I turn machine and CPU on, I am going directly to offsets tab and switching from G54 to G55, then I go back to program run and use the "Go To Zero" function.  Sometimes it works.  If it does not work I have to restart CPU for "Go To Zero" to work again.
                                                                                       Thanks again.

General Mach Discussion / Safe z turned off ignoring safe z problems
« on: July 18, 2010, 09:29:43 PM »
Hi,
I am just learning Mach and am having a intermittent issue when trying to use work offsets.
Sometimes I can go to g55 zero, but mostly all is stopped and status gives a safe z is turned off ignoring safe z move.
If I restart program I cane go to zero again. I have turned safe z on and when I do that, I get no move and no message. I am using a k2 3925 servo equipped with limit switches. Any advice is appreciated.
                          Thanks Mike

Thanks,
  I will try that.
