General Mach Discussion / Losing y position inconsistently
« on: November 03, 2010, 04:05:42 PM »
Every now and then at the start of a toolpath the machine will move to the center and then go and cut a shifted distance off in the y position.  It's not a machine problem and I start the machine very slowly because I thougt the initial movement may have made it skip a step.  The machine can move fast during long cuts with no problem it is just when starting a new cut.  I can run the same path several times with no problems then I get it again.  This is very frustrating and makes a lot of scrap.    Last night I ran a cut for 1 1/2hrs then started a profile path that started off and ruined it.  The computer running the machine is dedicated and has no internet or screen saver just Mach 3.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / New and confused
« on: May 15, 2010, 05:24:06 PM »
I got my new machine and it's been running fine until I tried my firsrt more complex sign.  Part way through the finsih path it took a nose dive.  Now whatever I do to reset it, it doesn't work.  I zero out and reload but it want's to cut elsewhere.  My computer is clean and only runs Mach3.  The sign I was running was built in aspire and the program was fine.  Is there a way to recover from a crash to get the zero points to align and is there a way to avoid the instant dive?  I did have this loose zero problem once before and corrected it through random button pushing but would kind of like to know what I am doing.  Thanks.
