Thanks Ger, never saw them before.
Actually, the ESS/MB2 combo looks like a pretty good deal. Shipping from Thailand doesn't look so bad either.
I like that type of terminal, if they are of good quality.

CNC Room breakout boards are very high quality. I was using an MB2 with my UC300ETH, until they made a dedicated board for the UC300ETH, the UB1.

So the slightly cheaper version is no longer available.

Because it was still to expensive for most hobbyists. :)

If you want a really good breakout board for the ESS, that includes VFD control, look at the MB2 from CNC Room.

General Mach Discussion / Re: g41/g42 cutting circle at end of arc

My guess is that it's a bug in Mach3's comp, of which there are many.
I tried the code in a different control, and did not get the same circles, although I got other errors in other places.

Part of the issue is that comp can struggle with lots of short segments, and there are moves that appear to be as small as a few thousandths of an inch in there.

Unless you have a 64 bit version of XP, Mach4 can only use 2Gb of ram, and Windows itself only about 3Gb.
But I doubt that memory is your issue.

Windows Vista was released 11 years ago. That's a long time ago. :)

So we're both right.
Technically, you weren't allowed to buy them, but they were readily available for purchase at the biggest online retailers.

Afaik, you've always been able to buy OEM licenses. My Windows 10 Pro is an upgrade from an OEM copy of Windows 8 that I bought, which doesn't match your theory.

The last time I needed to call Microsoft was when I was using Windows NT 4.

I don't think you can do that with any version? I think if you call them, you can if it's an identical replacement motherboard.

Licenses are tied to the PC, so it''s good for one PC (motherboard).
Fwiw, I haven seen a motherboard fail in about 20 years.

Yes, you can buy an OEM version. I always buy OEM versions, and build my own PC's.

The advantage of the Pro version with Windows 10 is that you can defer automatic updates. Windows 10 Home doesn't allow you to.

Windows 10 Pro is $150.

It doesn't make sense to "upgrade" to an old operating system.
