I don't see the logic in saying that is a reason NOT to apply the patch to 3.43.66

I never said that .066 shouldn't be patched. I was just pointing out that .062 is  used by a lot of people that .066 does not work for.

It appears that CNC Router Parts may have actually developed the patch, according to their CNC Zone post. They use the ESS, which recommends .062, which is why they patched that version.

There are bug fixes in 3.43.66 which are important and not available in 3.43.62

Unfortunately, there are also several bugs present in .066 which makes it unusable for many, if not most, people. .062 does not have these bugs.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Understanding Mach3 pulses
« on: May 18, 2018, 12:23:11 PM »
The quality, or cleanliness of the pulses may vary greatly from PC to PC.

25Khz is the maximum speed for each axis. So Mach3 can output up to 25,000 steps per second for each of 6 axis + the spindle.

Actual pulse rate depends on the  feedrate and acceleration of the current commanded move.

The pulse width setting will vary the length of the pulse.

There really isn't a direction "pulse". It's 0V in one direction, and 5V in the other direction. The pin doesn't change state unless the direction changes.

It would be nice if there was some info specifying that this is a patched version made to work with Windows 10 1803 or later, so people wouldn't be confused.

515
It's the one labeled 3.043 on the Mach3 downloads page. It's the only one available, I think. I've been told it includes 3.043.062, and a patch file.

As long as you have the smoothstepper plugin installed, it's OK.
The problem is when running Mach3 in "Simulation Mode", with no parallel port or plugin installed.

Also, if you are running Mach3 without the parallel port driver, the LED may not work correctly. Many Mach3 functions rely on the parallel port driver, or a motion controller plugin, to work properly.

4) The following error, I found it also in Gerry's 2010 screenset, the LED of the Spindle, it turns on but it does not turn off.
This is my properties for that LED:
Function: Spindle CW LED
OEM-Code: 11
Event/Input/Output: Led output
Color: Led green
Blink: no
Red/Green LED: no
It's a 64x32 png LED, half says ON, and another half says off. There is something wrong?

There is no error in the 2010 Screenset, unless it's been edited.

I just opened the .set file in Machscreen, and the settings are the same as you posted.
One thing to be aware of is the there is a transparent button on top of the LED, and if they get out of order, it may not display correctly.

I don't use Machscreen, so I don't know the best way to layer the button and LED so they are in the correct order (Button on top).
I created the screen using Screen 4, and was very careful about the order of item creation and placement.

If the screen has not been edited, and you are seeing an issue with the spindle LED, it may be that your spindle is not set up correctly, or it could even be a corrupt .xml file.

I get a lot of .xml files from other people, and have seen issues, where the spindle LED would not turn off. But I'm not actually running a machine, so I'm assuming it's a setup or .xml error.

There are a few thousand 2010 screenset users, and the spindle LED has never been a problem for anyone. If your spindle actually starts and stops, then the LED should be tuirning off when the spindle stops.

I don't know why it doesn't work. As I mentioned before, it could be due to your motion controller. Macros can behave differently with different motion controllers.

Mach3 is at the end of it's life. Development stopped over 5 years ago. Documentation was always sparse, so your not going to see any new documentation now.
There is a Cypress manual, and a Mach3 programming manual available to download.

THe Wiki contains 99% of the Button, OEM and DRO numbers. There is a post somewhere here on the forum that may have a few more obscure ones in it, if you search. But the Wiki should have everything you need.

As for the Vars, as I said, they are not documented, except for a few in the manual. I've never seen a list anywhere, and I suspect that only the developers have a full list.

He said DRO, not Var.

Unfortunately, most of the Var's are undocumented. Except for a few that are listed in the manual.

The M31 does use some User DRO's, 1511, 1512, 1513.
