In general config, check "Stop spindle, wait for Cycle Start". This runs the M6 start, then waits for cycle start, then runs m6 end, then continues with the program.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Stepper size and max speed

It's far more complicated than just asking. Typically, the bigger the stepper, the slower it will spin.

What you need to know, though, is will it have more torque at the rpm that the current stepper is stalling at.

You need to look at torque curves for the two motors to compare them.

I screwed that up. Change this line:

N8006 G91 G0 G28 Z0.

To

N8006 G91 G0
N8007 G28 Z0.

There's an error message about using two g-codes on the same line. Here:
N8006 G91 G0 G28 Z0.

and Here:
N8006 G0 G28 Z0.

Change those two lines to this, and it works fine.

N8005 G91
N8006 G0
N8007 G28 Z0.

V-Carve pro comes with a few single line fonts (15-20), but I've never used Cut 2D. You'll need to download the demo and spend 5 minutes to find out if it has any. I have a feeling it doesn't, based on what I just read on their website.

ttf to .dxf won't have any single line fonts, as it converts True Type fonts, which are not single line. Afaik, it's been $100 for at least 10 years.

Do you need a CAD program to clean up and customize Cut-2D?  (Vectric stresses lack of design ability with Cut-2D)

Not sure what you mean by clean up and customize. I believe that Cut 2D can only draw rectangles, and circles, or ellipses. If you need to draw other shapes, you need another package than can export in a format that Cut2D can import. You might want to look at Inkscape, as it's free. If you do use Inkscape, you'll want to download a better .dxf exporter than the built in one. This one is supposed to work good.

What CAD programs do you use with TTFtoDXF?
Any program that opens .dxf files should work fine with it.

If you have BobCAD, it should be able to do everything and more that Cut2D can do. I would think that it can also do V Carving, and convert ttf's to vectors for machining?

Does Cut-2D direct output and Mach3 play nice?

Yes, all Vectric software works very well with Mach3.

Then post your code so we can see why it doesn't work.

That's no good.
Start with one side, like this. The border on each side needs to be exactly the same, or the image will appear to move. Once you have it centered, you need to double the width. When finished, the border in between the two states should be double the border on the edges, because half the center border will be used for each state.
Also, the width needs to be an even number, because only half gets used at one time. If it's an odd width, it'll move when changing states. But, if you start with one side, as I suggest, than double the width, then the width can never be an odd amount.

Here's an example from my Aqua screen, which may show you what you need to do more clearly. Notice the width of the center.

If you're going to do a glow like that, here's what I do.
Start with the button width. Say it's 75 pixels. Say the glow needs another 6 pixels at each side. 75+12 = 87 pixels wide for each state, x2. so the image width would be 174 pixels. The two buttons should each be 6 pixels from the edge, with 12 pixels in between them. 6+75+12+75+6 = 174

Make sense?

Just trying to make sure you don't buy something you don't need.
