A clean, new sheet of MDF is probably uniform in thickness to about .005" or so. But you can't rely on it being flat, as it can warp in different directions simply by moving it around your shop. If it's securely fastened to the machine, then any unevenness should probably be due to the machine frame itself, as MDF is quite flexible and should easily conform to whatever it's mounted too.

Rather than checking how flat the table is, I'd be more concerned with how flat, parallel, and square the linear rails are. If they are flat, then you surface the table and it'll be flat. If the rails aren't parallel to the the table, then it's possible that the table won't be flat, even though your indicator may tell you it is.


It sounds like your MDF table is larger than your machine can reach. If so, you should mount a secondary piece of MDF that the machine can reach completely, and machine that flat.

Your axis are setup backwards. Go to Config > Homing/Limits and check the Reverse box for the axis cutting backwards.

It knows exactly what the g-code is telling it to do. If you want it to do something other than what the g-code says, then of course, it can't know that.

You didn't answer my question, but it sounds like you want it to move 1.4°. not -358°??

You need to learn how to use MasterCAM better.

A workaround is to set the Debounce setting in general config to maybe 5000 or so, which will filter out the noise a bit. You can set it higher if you need to, but the higher it is, the longer it delays Mach3 seeing the switch being triggered.

Mach3 simply doesn't know that it has to jump from the  Y0. A-0.  to Y-.002 A-358.554 because there is no indicator for the direction it should move I guess?

What are you expecting it to do? The code is telling it to move from A0 to A-358.554, so it's going to rotate -358.554 degrees. If you want it to move the other way 1.446 degrees, then you should program A1.446.

If the next position is greater than the current position, then it will move in the positive direction. If the next position is less than the current position, it will move in the negative direction.

A much better choice would be to use a vector drawing program like CorelDraw or Inkscape (free) for your design. Using Vectors instead of raster images will give much better results.

Download the trial version of Aspire and or V Carve Pro and see if they'll do what you want. Don't buy any software unless you yourself are sure it will work for you.

All your axis are set to a maximum speed of 25ipm, and the homing speeds are 20% of that (50% for the X).

You need to set up the acceleration and velocity for all your axis in Motor Tuning.
