As Tweakie says, Stop stops the machine instantly, with no deceleration. You should always use Feedhold before using Stop, unless it's an emergency.

Aspire has nothing to do with your machine stalling.

IF you are using a parallel port, check the task manager while it's running and see what the CPU usage is when it stalls.

Just add the second program to the first in an editor. Make sure the G54 or G58 are at the start of their respective sections, and make sure there's no M2 or M30 between them.

I don't see any way to text comments from g-code into a macro.

And the example I saw used M3030.
I would not try to use M3 or M30, which are already used by other functions.

I would edit the Aspire post to use M3030 or any other unused number.

Ok so the problem with that, is the huge surge of current, and I may be wrong here so correct me if I am, but once the motor reaches a speed, it no longer needs all that current being delivered so it surges for a small amount of time back into the supply phase?

This should not happen. I have everything in my setup powered from one 240V outlet, and the spindle set to accelerate in 2-3 seconds. If you look at the current rating on the VFD, it only draws about 1 amp while accelerating.
Also, the VFD stores power in capacitors, which the spindle draws from. It shouldn't be sending voltage back through the electrical system.

Is this one of those 110V VFD and spindles? Those can be very problematic.

Mach4 still has probably only 10-15% the number of users of MACH3.

I would argue that it's much lower than that. With all the chinese machines for sale that come with Mach3, there are probably more new Mach3 users every day than Mach4 users. Granted, many of these are pirated copies.

I think it is possible to guestimate from NEW USERS introducing themselves.

The number of users that use the forum is probably as low as 5%-10% of the total user base. And the number that introduce themselves is probably 5%-10% of those.

your suggestion puts the home x-0 and y-0 at the far end  the end furthest from the prox switches

You can use Home Offsets in Config>Homing/Limits to move the 0,0 home position relative to the switches.
