If I did alter my soft limits, I didn't do it on purpose. hahahaha. I tried what you advised and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the help again.

thanks, I think I tried that, but I will try it again. Hood asked for screen shots. These are the two display screens I use.

General Mach Discussion / Tool Path Display too small
« on: December 02, 2014, 09:59:22 PM »
Hi

I haven't been on the forum for some time because the program has been working wonderfully. Normally when I load a code, a preview of the tool path for the cut object will appear in the top right corner, allowing me to check orientation of the wood and to do a perimeter check with the router to make sure I don't bump into anything (hold downs etc). A few days ago, when I loaded the code, the image preview was just a tiny dot on the screen and the work envelope appeared to be massive. It was a small piece so I wasn't worried, the cut ran as i programmed it and I was able to make due. Now I have a larger cut to do and I need  the larger preview back on the display. Does anyone know how to do that or what I may have done to make that happen? I use vectric vcarve 5.5 on a machine that operates XP as an OS. An suggestions on what to try or where I should look would be most appreciated.

thanks

Thanks Hood, am dead in the water with this one.  I am not sure what xml is or where I can find it to send to you. Can I attach files to this forum? If not how can I send you those files?

General Mach Discussion / Project Orientation at 90 degrees in Mach 3
« on: October 26, 2013, 10:23:38 AM »
Hi I have a tale top CNC that I have been using for a couple of years with no problem. I design in V carve Pro 5.5 then import the txt files into Mach 3 and haven't really had any problems. I haven't used my machine for a couple of months and when I turned everything back on the other day things were odd. Initially the display screen was only about 1/4 of the screen size. I closed it and opened it again and the normal display filled up the whole screen. When I loaded my first txt file, it was at 90 degrees to how I had designed it. (like the x and y were switched somehow) I went back to Vcarve and recalculated the carving making sure that I had the dimensions length and width correct, resaved it and loaded it into Mach 3 again and this time the display box on the right had side that usually shows the movements showed a piece so large that the carve i had loaded (11x12 inches) appeared as a tiny dot. Does anyone know what might be going on?  PS when you close Mach 3, should I click yes or no to the settings box?  Any help would be so greatly appreciated.  If there is anyone out there who lives near London Ontario Canada, I would be glad to reimburse you for your time in helping me properly take care of this problem and setting the machine properly. I can be reached at rneves at sympatico dot ca if you would prefer not to use the forum.

General Mach Discussion / different screens at start up
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:27:32 PM »
I am fairly new, so I hope this isn't a dumb question. When I start my computer, and I click on the Mach 3 shortcut and when it opens up it seems to randomly open up two different versions. I have attached  the different screen shots  below. Any thoughts on how I got two different versions loaded on the computer, which one I should use, and what, if anything I should do with the other one.

Any Help would be great

General Mach Discussion / Re: Router driving into wood and bed

Thanks for all the great questions.

********Is there a g41 or G42  ahead of the line where this happens?
It always happens the same time. When I start Mach 3, I start the code, it runs a few lines, then stops, then I hit start again and then it drives through the material.

*******Have you tried going to the toolpath screen and hitting Simul;ate Run
No I have not, I didn't know this was something that I could do, so I will try it.

*******Is this on the first run of the day?
Now that you mention it, It is almost alway on the first run of the day. can you tell me more about that process in a step by step please,I am not sure i completely understand.

******************Can you post the code so we can see what it looks like?
It has happened on all kinds of code, but I will attach the last inlay I was doing. I don't think it was the code, because after doing it, I used the same code to cut the perfect inlay.

***********Does the Z display show agree that the cutter is way below zero or is it at some bizarre position? When I start it says 0, but when it bores, it says that it is +60 sometimes.

The reason I ask a bunch of questions is not that I am a Mach3 Guru, but because the biggest problem with diagnosing a problem is a lack of details so everyone makes a bunch of guesses and they may or may not provide any benefit.

I have one code that I have carved at least a dozen times and it has done it twice. each time it is the first time I try to carve it once I turn on the computer and turn on mach 3 and set the zeros

It would be awesome if I knew what that meant, so i am assuming that since I don't that means no. is that something I do in Mach 3 or in vectrc?
