VB and the development of wizards / Re: mach3 startup password
« on: July 29, 2015, 11:06:02 AM »
As far as I know there is NO direct way to do that. BUT here is a method that can work.

Create a Mcode such as M876 and insert this type code.

Passcode = Question ("What is the Passcode?")

If Passcode = 123456 Then

MsgBox("Passcode successful")

' Add code to write to login File as sucessfull login

Else

MsgBox("Bad Passcode")

'Add code to write to login file as failed login attempt

DoOEMButton(705)

End If

End

Now add teh M876 to the initiation line in Mach3. THat way when Mach3 starts up it will CALL the macro. The macro asks for a passcode IF successfull in continues IF it fails It shuts down Mach3 AND the PC.  You could also set it up for multilple attemps before it dumps you out.

Another method that keeps Mach3 up and does not shut down teh PC would be to use a simple endless loop and the ONLY way to end the loop is to give the passcode.

OR you could do it from a BATCH file that actually LOADS mach3

OR you can make it as complex as you want. With passcode lookup tables and Writing to a Login File to see who and when it was accessed. It could give the login date and time and user.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Probing and reporting
« on: July 29, 2015, 09:59:22 AM »
Hiya Don, I was making the suggestion based on about 40 years of it myself.  IF you are already creating the internal code to do probing WHY NOT make an INPROVEMENT that will help EVERYONE.

NOT EVERYTHING Fanuc is a great idea.  They can leave a LOT to be desired in many areas. THIS is one of them.

IF you are probing to gather points as a shape or 3d cloud and the G31 runs to end of travel it IS an error. IF you record the end point it is a phantom point that does NOT exist and it corrupts teh point cloud with FALSE data. Seeing how you may gather 100Ks of points and a % are BAD data, you have a problem.  It would also reduced the amount of programming needed to record points rather than comparing  EVERY G31 move to qualify it.

NOW if you are gathering metrics THAT is a different story and the needs can change. Mach4 needs to serve users OTHER than the industrial side.

The same goes for teh G31 function MOVES. Should it hit and stop OR hit stop and retract off teh trip.  The later IS the most usefull as it greatly reduces the amount of Code you have to generate for shape probing. THAT is a PLUS. Could be an option, Many other controllers give it as an option these days.

ALSO there is using the G31 with an arc G2/3. The greatest thing since cotton candy for probing shapes and 3d clouds.  It is a HUGE reduction in coding required and speeds UP the process a great deal.  That is something Mach has never been blessed with is a FAST 3d probing routine.   becuse of 1 the phantom point generated AND because Mach3 never had conditional code yuou had to rin it as a mcro with VB and THAT was dog bone slow and painful to watch.  NO ONE so far has sucessfully created a fast dependable 3d probing routine for Mach3.

Mach4 could set  new standards OR just be another follow the sheep controller and do nothing inovative controller.

Just a  thought, (;-) TP

AS a test I would unload the plugin and run the test from the keyboard..

Not used in that context. I would have to see the macro code to know exactly what it was used for. It cold be a puase or anything else in the code.   With each Mcode you have up to 3 paramaters that you can call with teh macro PQR.

A gcode pause would be G04 Pxx. The G04 is the pause and teh Pxx is the duration.

875
Your M3 M8 macros have parameter calls attached so they are NOT standard M3/8 macros (;-)

It is pointing to a problem with the  pendant/plugin functioning.

876
I just tested the Gcode and it ran fine all cycle starts to continue acted as it should it followed ALL the modal values of the code perfectly.

When you stop on M1 do you MOVE off position at any time?

877
IF the pendant is actually CYCLING THRU those functions THAT is a BAD thing. It should move to another function THEN select that function.

To test it I need your M3 and M8 macros as those do not appear to be standard macros and may effect the outcome. Also do yo have the Return FUNCTION turned ON or OFF ? That also can effect the outcome.

V2580 there are glitches in teh elapsed timer. It does NOT reset correctly when it is suppose to.

At one time you probably checnged it form active high to active low when it broke, to make it work NOW it sees it as abnormal and you may have to change it back to correct the condition.  It is just telling you SOMETHING is abnormal to the way it worked before.
